The UBK-1 is a three-stage dynamics processor with simultaneous serial and parallel audio paths that open up unprecedented levels of control over a sound's shape, tone, and harmonic character.

The processor has three engines - Saturation, Compression, and Density. Five meticulously tweaked compressor curves are provided, all based on the popular UBK FATSO hardware. A high pass (HP) sidechain filter with an unusually wide frequency sweep allows for unorthodox shapes of compression. Two "Tele" style rockers control the wet/dry Mixes, and feature several optimized preset positions as well as fully variable operation. A Headroom control simultaneously adjusts the sidechain level of all three engines without affecting the plugin's output level. At the end of the chain, the Density engine adds an additional frequency-selective compressor/harmonic saturator, with a switch for targeting the mids or highs. The cumulative effect of these three engines is a thickness and musicality typically associated with expensive analog processing.

Is this showing as version 1.2.4 for anyone else. I uninstalled AudioUtopia's 1.2.4. I've installed R2R 1.2.6 more than once and it keeps showing as v1.2.4 when I press the UBK-1 tag over the compression knob.

Go to your plugins directory and right click the .dll file. Go to details.

Yes thePunisher, when I go to the dll property details as you suggest, I do see 1.2.6. It's when I open the plug inside the DAW and check it's version number there, it shows 1.2.4. Maybe a version check bug. So it could in fact be v1.2.6 but is displaying the wrong number.

One other thing I noticed. When I select different presets, they seem to have no effect on the settings, as if the presets don't work, or maybe not pointed to the correct preset folder location?

Yes, uninstalled AudioUtopia version. Then I reinstalled it to see if it would install presets. If they're there, I haven't found them yet. I found preset locations for 4 other Kush plugs, but not UBK-1. Does anyone know the Windows path to the presets?

Edit: I have read online of UBK-1 preset placeholders, (preset names without the data). That's what it appears to be on my system. Unless I can find a preset folder, but I've checked the usual suspects.

I was a Kush subscriber for a while and my Gobbler account was always telling me my 1.2.4 needed updating, which I had done. But the message never went away. So I'd say it's a problem on their side, even with legit product.

I am not too familiar with the protection(s), but was there a change of protection from the last time this plugin was released? A new Il*k version?

If so, will we see other / more Il*k (new version?) protected stuff in the future?

Can s.o. clarify if this used the newest Il*k protection?
