-Protection wise u-he are famous being the "worst"!
-Timebombs comes over time and you´re completely lost - nothing works!

I seriously doubt V.R has the skills removing timebombs from a release like this - I might wrong but let´s see
You can't have everything; where would you put it?
  Resident 10.07.2014 684
I believed R2R has skills to to remove timebombs in u-he plugins. But then, one day, it bombed. V.R releases are doing fine. Lets see when they will bomb. Only time can tell.

What? I think you're talking about another nice illusion for Mac users.
  Member 30.10.2017 25
Yes, Macs have Cubase Artist released, but it is half legged(Lots of stuff not working or quirky workarounds). I wouldn´t call it crack(half, maybe) even though it is the best shot since AiR.. But anyway nice to see people still do reverse

Also super nice to have Twangstorm!

Never tried a VR release. Are they any good, or will they timebomb or mess you up further down the road? R2Rs releases has never gotten me problems, but there's a lot of goodies from VR out there I've noticed ????
  Resident 28.01.2016 2 352
Literally nothing from V.R. bombed on me yet. Give them a try, it's free and if you don't like them you can always uninstall.

What about Avenger ?
Was able to install it, play with some presets... launched it a few times the next week... then stopped using/launching it, during 1 month or 2... and one day, i try to launch it (cubase), license error... couldn't find the license, bla bla. .. even if i specified the good psth, it kept saying invalid... even uninstalling and installing it several times, still no luck....
Everything firewalled, no Internet. .

Is it working, for you ?
  Resident 26.11.2015 531
i feel like using cracked stuff is all a crap shoot(the price we pay for not paying anything!)... i gotta recommend getting good at mixing down or freezing layers that use cracked plugins cuz ya never know! hell i've even had legit paid for plugins stop working right on me(i.e. the project was made using an older plugin version, i updated the plugin over time and then reopend the project a year later or whatever and then things didn't sound or work right)... freezing everything is a little extra pain but considering how cheap these 5tb seagate hd's are now...
make music, not walls.
  Resident 12.03.2014 389
I'd say 80% of the stuff i regularly use, i bought it, even if it took many many years.

All the other stuff i install, i basically never use it... so I'm super happy i can try r2r/v.r stuff.
If i run a demo, i know i will be FORCED to use everything the plug-in has to offer, in 30 or 14 days. I hate being stressed.
With r2r/v.r installs, i can have something sitting there for weeks... then will eventually run it once or twice... than wait another 4+ weeks... etc etc...

If after 2-4 months I'm not using it, I AM SUUUUUPER HAPPY i didn't spend 100 or 200 bucks on that piece of shit...!

Otherwise, if i find myself using a plug-in/vsti more and more, and 3-4 months later, i will put it in my to buy list... until eventually there is a nice promo. ..

for many years, there was no 64bit version for Windows, for waldorf largo... meanwhile, people have paid like 220 bucks for it...!

devs don't give a fuck about users, we're just some walking wallets. Many devs will release a v1.0... wait several months before releasing a bug fix, that will add another 50 critical bugs. .. over and over.

to those who think 'ohh, we buy a legit plugin, but at least, we can use it forever'... really, FOREVER ?

Just grab a plugin you have purchased between 2005 and 2010, and try to run it today: yeah, for several reasons, it won't work. ..
-version not updated
-version not compatible with the current OS
-version not compatible with current DAW
-some critical bugs prevent it from working even on older OS/DAWs
-not compatible with the vst standards, can't even be bridged
- etc etc etc

So... the 200 bucks we pay for that plugin... is it really 'forever'....?
absolutely not. It will work 1 or 2 years, until eventually there is a new Os update, vst/daw update..but not much longer. But hey, we can fix the problem.. by buying the v2.0.... or v3.0...

plugins became like videogames: they remove a ton of core basic features, bonuses, levels, characters, etc etc, so they can sell it later, as 'expansions'

Today, plugins are made... to make people buy the next upgrade.
Cubase 10... the snapshot feature doesn't support automations. Knowing steinberg, the will put the snapshot-automations' in the v10.5 update... to make an extra 50 or 100 bucks, while advertising it as a 'new great feature'

I remember paying almost 250 bucks for a vsti, back in the 200x.... 'something' Zerovector.... 1 or 2 years later, the company went bankrupt, and i couldn't find my serial number. HOW COOL is that... that plugin sounded so fat, so analog... great filters, inxredible hardcore/gabber 'hoover' leads... anyone remembers it ? :)

Devs don't want people to test demos. They want people to buy it after they saw an advertising...

Instead of limiting a demo to 30 or 15 days, why not letting the user launch the plugin, hhhmm, 100, 200, 300 times, before it expires ?

30 or 15 days.. we install it today... and, if for some reasons, we can only launch and try it 4 or 5 times, during those 30 days, it is over.
Whereas if we can launch it 200 times, we will have much more time... and if we launch it 200 times, that means we like it.. and we would like to buy it.

We must thank GOD, for teams like r2r, v.r, and many others, to let us try all these plug-ins longer than 30 days.
Without them, we would be spending millions on plug-ins we would end up hating/not using... instead of putting or hard earned money on the real cool stuff we love and will be using.

Sorry for this long comment, guys :)

Great comment, spot on. I'm thinking about these thingst a lot lately. The thought that there is no long term safety when buying (or even using cracked) plugins is a terrifying one. How different things have become. A few hundred years back, you wrote down sheet music, and nowadays, you have project files in software, and it's all so ephemeral. Sucks.

Some friends of mine still use it, it hasn't bombed for them.
I used the cracked version but then I bought it as soon as it was on sale.
Of course when I say that they never bombed on me I'm referring to my own experience ;)

Most of them are good, some of them timebomb or don't work properly. Always worth a try tho.
