Cool! I have been wanting an all-in-one updated Roland pack :)

Link to Concerto library? Or is the R2R 5.7 the latest one?

There is no library and no instructions to it. Perhaps VR will be upload it later...

are loading times fixed?
Think of using non periodic rhythm patterns in your music

This might sound a bit too technical for some, but some will understand, I hope. V.R?

Here are my findings, in VM Windows7x64 with Reaper 4.78:

Loading times are... let's say "tricky". In other words - not fixed, but they are perfectly normal in *some cases*. The problem seems to be the network adapter. Roland Cloud wants one present, as you might have guessed, otherwise Roland Cloud can't work when there's no *Internet access*. So I've tested three different cases:

1) When you disable the network adapter completely, everything works perfectly and loading times are normal. This is how it should be, and this is the *best case*.

2) When your network adapter is enabled, but there's no Internet access with it, as in my case, since I have Windows OS'es networked but no Internet access, loading times are incredibly long, actually I couldn't even load them, or maybe I wasn't patient enough? But this is the *worst case*.

3) When your network adapter is enabled, and you have Internet access with it, as it will never be in my case from Windows [;)], you will be able to load the project with Roland plugins, and the loading times for new instances of these plugins will be normal, but loading any different Roland plugins that are *not present in the project* will result in a very long loading time and a CPU spike. If you start a new project, the long loading time will appear at some point, not sure how. But let's call this one a *workable case*, as you could possibly pre-load the Roland instruments you're planning to use with the project and get normal loading times with these.

I'm not sure what my conclusion is... I'm saddened it works so badly when you have the network adapter enabled, but no Internet access, like in my case. Also, there are more than a couple of plugins which look for the network adapter in order to work, like Waves and Korg, for instance. So it would be really nice to make these plugins work when there's network adapter present, but no Internet access.

I was thinking maybe blocking the Roland Cloud website in the hosts file could help, but after some pondering about it I guessed probably not. However, I don't know Roland Cloud's address anyway, so I could't test it.

Anyway, I still think this is a great piece of work V.R and a move into the right direction! I especially love the portable mode installation. Great! I don't need to make my own "manual" installations any more.

Cheers!

p.s. Sorry for the long post but I think it's worth it. :)

Interesting post. I will test this on my system and see what happens. On another note: You do not need to be online to have the legal cloud working. You "only" need to login every 7 days. (one reason for me to not use the roland cloud).

As I understand it, you might have to login every 7 days, but the plugins check the cloud every time they're started. [?] So you have to be online if you want to use them. That sounds logical.

But it'S wrong. The FAQ clearly says: You have to be online to initially authenticate the instruments, but after that you have seven days before you need to be online again.

Also I have experienced it myself.

Thank you so much V.R!

Great work! Bugfix update for Dance Trax, I suppose.

Roland made an update to the cloud manager and concertro, both in regards to performance. The rolandclan forum is full of people complaining about plugin performances. I think the JV1080 plugins are using way to much cpu.

Yes they absolutely do. As if a 13yo MS javascript [not even VS] mouse warrior programmed them. Terrible. At least for the sound I get. They should sound much better. I'm not saying they sound like crap, but they certainly don't sound as good as u-he synths, for example.

Ok, nice try, but... (win7 x64 - FL 20):
1. After scanning them and tried to load them for first time to put them on my personal vst's, i had to do it one by one, close FL every single time, otherwise it was not loading the second i load and crashing. Anyway i've done it this way one by one.
2. Then, i loaded one, (anyone) and tried to load a second, FL was crashed again!
3. Too much cpu load, you loading one, almost half cpu gone!

This is like the first one...CPU spike is off the charts....not for me

But as always...thanks for the time and upload

Did you try change the settings in the options and tick
Optimize for lower CPU Usage
most of the plugins have this in the drop down list
and you can also lower the Voices.

That's a good answer, and it generally helps with all instrument plugins, but I think he's referring to the loading times as they cause the CPU spikes, and your DAW stops working while the plugin is loading.

can anyone please explain how they work? Do you need to install your native engine?
  Resident 23.09.2015 978

Don't know if I understood well but if you never installed any of this just install the Roland Cloud emulator, then all this.

It actually does seem to help if you have a network connection with Internet access, like probably 90% of people here. I tested it. I was sceptical at first, because that's like installing anti-protection on anti-protection... if you know what I mean.

But I tested it for only about half an hour jamming. The long loading time appeared only without the R2R cloud emulator. Guess it helps.

However, it doesn't help in my case - when there's no Internet access. At all. Still loading Roland instruments takes ages. So long that I had to end the Reaper process.

Does it really work in 32 bits?
  Resident 15.09.2011 1 3766
+1504
No. It's only x64. And most of these plugins are so inefficient and use so much resources like there's no tomorrow. Well, there isn't... If programmers continue programming on Cray computers for Cray computers, and learn the art of programming from Arturia programmers.
