⚡ SWAM ENGINE PRODUCTS ⚡
SWAM (Synchronous Waves Acoustic Modeling) is a new-generation, sophisticated proprietary technology that enables musicians, performers, and composers to overcome the classic limitations of traditional samplers. Conceived by Stefano Lucato and developed in collaboration with Emanuele Parravicini, the SWAM engine combines concepts of Physical Modeling and Behavioral Modeling with the Multi-Vector/Phase-Synchronous Sample-Morphing technique.
Perfect for multi-vector expressive acoustic instruments such as woodwinds, brass and bowed strings, the SWAM engine is currently available in 3 different versions: SWAM-B, SWAM-W and SWAM-S for modeling Brass, Woodwinds, and Bowed Strings.

INTEL CORE I7-5930K 3.50GHZ this one. It's not a CPU issue. I can run big projects with no issue. I tested the solo SWAM instruments they work fine too, 2% of CPU average. When I load a SWAM Sections instrument though as soon as i play a note CPU goes to 90%-100%. It's very weird cause from what I read on the comments people report some high CPU but this is ridiculous. Idk what's going on.

Then it's unusual, yeah. That i7 should handle it without a problem. I'm getting high CPU usage as well, especially the Sections, around 40%, I thought it was just because of my weak R5 3600, but, yeah, something isn't right.

Did u have installed the previous version?

I uninstalled everything before I installed the bundle. Same I did for the R2R release. The R2R one is slightly better since I can run 5 instances of Sections till it goes to 100% but I can't use it in any realistic scenario.

Weird, but not so... I drop here some that I've experienced about.

First of all thank you for taking the time and the effort of writing all that! I haven't thought of going in so much detail for this uninstall but since you suggested it I did.
I checked all the folders, deleted remaining files after the uninstall and even cleaned the registry. Restarted the pc and I installed the Witches version of the vst (both great groups I just trust the Witches more).

So after I did all that I opened Studio One completely empty template and I put a vst in. When in idle the CPU was at 2-3%. As soon i pressed a note CPU went up to 50-55%.

So I started putting more vst a cello sections, a violin and a viola and played them all at the same time to see how much I could pressure it.

Result is at 6 vst when played at the same time CPU goes at 95%. When in idle it goes down to 3%.

I have no idea what's going on or even if this behavior is normal from this VST. All Solo instruments have low CPU impact idk why this one behaves so badly.

Anyway, thank you for all the help! I hope maybe in an update after some time that this will be fixed. It's a shame cause these are amazing instruments.

I would try a fresh Win 10 22H2 install in another machine, just for test, or in your main machine, it's up to you. Anyway, SWAM VSTis are a little bit heavy for real time multiple instances..., yes. Perhaps a good way to go is to define a couple of tracks, make a .wav, save the project & start another project loadin that .wav & a couple of new instances of SWAM. Following that way 'till the whole project is more or less defined could help a lot, I mean, to pre-produce without loading all as a huge multiple VSTi load.

Do you have it installed? If so, when you play some notes on an empty project what's the cpu % that you see?

I don't have another machine rn to test it in and the whole wave conversion thing is not something productive that im willing to do. Too much wasted time there in doing that.
  Resident 15.11.2020 2 926

6 instances in my old Phenom II 1100T reaches 70% so far, I would like an iCore 9 12ºGen, but it's just a dream...

The pre-produce stuff is widely used among many producers for many purposes, how much time could take to render 2 SWAM instances?, obviosuly is senseless for live/stage performances.

Which is your audio interface?, has native ASIO or u're working through Asio4All? Could be any of hundreds of system/installed programs, background processes, etc.etc.. From all that I could ignore I guess there's no other way to test than install SWAM again in a 0km Windows.

I have an Apollo Twin user interface so ASIO is not an issue. I looked up some reviews in YouTube for this vst and I noticed that their CPU skyrockets to at least 40% as soon as they start playing.

I am really surprised that no one mentioned that as a major issue cause it makes this beautiful vst practically unusable. Solo instruments work great, minimum CPU usage, the Sections are unusable in any realistic scenario.

Anyway, I am glad that it's not my PCs fault and I hope in the future they will fix it's CPU usage in an update.

I came to the same conclusion, sadly, the CPU usage too absurdly high for any serious production, the single plugins are tolerable but the section plugins are pretty much useless.
Look at Pianoteq, that's modeling done right,
beautiful sound in 50MB with ~10% CPU usage.
Hope more people will complain to them so they work it.

This is absolutely epic, been dreaming for years and years and years to replace all the kontakt orchestral libs with audiomodeling, and now it finally happened.
One 1.4GB package to rule them all

BTW, in Win10, the installer is marked with Defender as Wacatac virus, just like the last release. However, the DLLs themselves are not triggering Defender at all.
Also also, if you want to run this in Wine, be sure to install latest winehq-staging, yabridge and dxvk package via winetricks. Then the UI will open successfully, but the interface is laggy and causes CPU to spike with every UI interaction, making it unusable. Possibly an issue with GPU acceleration in linux. Still investigating what could fix this.
Thank you for helping us help you help us all.

Does dxvk break your kontakt too?
I had to compile a custom wine build so that I could make them both work

Kontakt 7 portable works well with dxvk installed on my end.
Have you figured out the performance issues in swam?

OK, I think I found a fix:
in Main Menu -> Settings -> Options -> uncheck High Quality Graphics.
Then the performance issues are gone. This unfortunately has to be done on every instrument separately.
Thank you for helping us help you help us all.

VR should stop protecting/packing their inno installers.
The hoodoovoodoo isn't hidden in the istallers, ain't it?
R2R doesn't protect jack shit in the installer and it doesn't keep them from ruling the scene.

It's just downloading on my side so I don't know if they did mess with their installers but innoextract should take good care of it. Also having the cracking happen in the installer doesn't sound like something V.R. would do.

I've been trying to get Camelot Pro to work, but I can't get past the login page. After I register, it just shows "Valid user, no license." I don't think it's a unique app, but it would be interesting to try.

Yes, it was literally never seen like this (I am toking about v.2023 lies), a wild Windows defender!
I immediately removed that installation, and didn't try to detect anything. I didn't run the whole thing through virustotal. Maybe it was fake, maybe not. It all happened on a computer that is offline, all the time.
Really after all that, you should be very careful.

Just to be clear, you are talking about the 2023 lies release and not about this VR one, correct?

Yes I wrote about version from 2023!
I don't have a new one, and I didn't try it.

I would edit your comment because it could be misleading, it seems you are talking about this 2024 VR release, which is totally unfair

So I find a couple of things quite perplexing about this stuff.

For one I can hardly find any audio samples/examples of any of this stuff on the "SWAM" site. The "videos" section comes up blank with just headers like there's supposed to be some kind of clip there but nothing is actually viewable.

Also, there are many here that report Very high CPU usage for this stuff. Going to the site and reading their adverts this seems totally contrary to what they "say" about the SWAM engine. It's supposed to be all about less resource usage, CPU, RAM ,etc... So what gives?
  Member 4.10.2023 9 146
+212
It's heavy on the processing, but light on memory... the opposite of sample libraries. As for demos, I agree, their website isn't the best resource; run 'SWAM flute', 'SWAM violin' and similar queries on YouTube.

Many thanks to Team VR. This is an awesone release, but I am concerned about hidden virus. I gave up the last release, and if it is not as clean as old old release. I am afraid I would pass this again.

pass pass dont worry, leave this V.R 2024 masterpiece to me, I know what to do with it, you pass and be happy
