⚡ SWAM ENGINE PRODUCTS ⚡
SWAM (Synchronous Waves Acoustic Modeling) is a new-generation, sophisticated proprietary technology that enables musicians, performers, and composers to overcome the classic limitations of traditional samplers. Conceived by Stefano Lucato and developed in collaboration with Emanuele Parravicini, the SWAM engine combines concepts of Physical Modeling and Behavioral Modeling with the Multi-Vector/Phase-Synchronous Sample-Morphing technique.
Perfect for multi-vector expressive acoustic instruments such as woodwinds, brass and bowed strings, the SWAM engine is currently available in 3 different versions: SWAM-B, SWAM-W and SWAM-S for modeling Brass, Woodwinds, and Bowed Strings.

I would do the same if it came from an unknown source, but V.R is trustworthy,
never had a privacy related issue with them or R2R.

If we're talking about that last SWAM release from an unknown source, I remember that. The thing about that is not that it was indeed a virus, it was that the entire crack was obfuscated and could be malicious. I shared the same concerns and ultimately didn't install it. It was never proved to be malicious, though.

If you're talking about any other release, let me know because I don't remember anything like that recently.

He's definitely talking about that release, it was released October, last year, nobody has found any concrete proof, myself included,
I ran it through a sandbox, monitored the network traffic, etc.
Couldn't find anything, but the fact that the cracker wanted to remain anonymous and not take credit for such a big release was kinda fishy.

Yes, sir. That release was signed by a team (?) called 'lies'. I was enthusiastic at first, but after reading up on it, I did install it on a 'sandbox' PC. Actually, I don't remember many people reporting installation back then, because everyone was very scared. As a user of R2R keygens, I know what false positives look like. That morning was a whole different event. I've never seen Defender go as wild as that. It was like a heavy allergic reaction. I'm not a tech person, but I don't remember reading an explanation that sounded consistent and reliable. So yeah, even though V.R. is reliable, I'm wary because of that experience.

I understand why you'd want to be cautious, yeah.
You're right, now I remember that name "lies", nothing much is known about them.
The setup file was obfuscated with VMProtect, that's what every AV detected.
So yeah, even though nothing was really found,
it's hard to trust an individual or group that's not well established in the scene.
V.R has been in the business for so long, we never encountered
anything in their releases.

Thx to CE & VR for the Gong.

I used the Woodwinds Bundle which was released back than without any Problems (Windows Defender did flag it as malicious) but i checked via Glasswire and so on and there where No Connections ever made by the Plugin.

Now i will try out this Release but i hope that this Point is only for the Solo Strings:

NOTE: providing local network permission to your DAW or standalone SWAM Solo Strings instances is mandatory to allow proper communication between SWAM instruments

I did not have this Problem with the 3.7.2 Woodwinds Release when opening more than one Instance (DAW Blocked via Firewall) so there should definitly be a Way in bypassing these Messages.

No worries, there was a SWAM release in October last year,

Kaspersky found some kind of nasty lurking in the installer, but the actual SWAM PLUGINS all work perfectly for me. I set up a Wine container on my Linux machine and went through the installation process. I then RAR’d every single SWAM (installed) file so I could easily extract/place them on any normal Windows system. I’ve been using that October 2023 release since it came out - not a single issue or problem! Mind you, I have to add an exception to Windows Defender because WD will sometimes block the plugins. But, I have never suffered a virus infection on my system because the the SWAM 2023 (v3.72) instruments.

I used a WINE container on Linux, but I suspect you could do pretty much the same thing with « Windows Sandbox » right within Windows itself.

Same here.

Yeah, I installed it through Sandboxie first then moved the files out,
couldn't find any "out of place" file,
I've been using the plugins for a while now as well,
I got NetLimiter running 24/7, no file ever tried to connect to any IP.
But still you can never know, maybe they're using some undetected exploit.

Well, I'm glad I can remove that version now and use the V.R one instead.

Try to move the "Expression" slider, the plugins usually will start to produce sound after that.

Working in studio one 6 here, instruments work fine but they use way too much CPU especially the Section instruments which make them unplayable unfortunately. If anyone has a solution to this please share your thoughts.
  Member 4.10.2023 9 146

More so than previous releases, you mean? I mean, SWAM is known to be a CPU hog. For (e.g.) a 24-piece string section, what I do is 1) write the MIDI arrangement on a cheap synth, 2) paste it on my string section track templates one by one, 3) make all fx offline for said 24 tracks (Reaper custom action, easy to do), 4) vary relevant performance parameters one by one (note-on, note length, CC expression, CC sustain etc.) as I make each track back online. On my laptop, I can play up to 6 SWAM tracks without clicks and pops, provided all other tracks have no online FX. So I can have an idea of how the performance is shaping up. However, I only listen to the whole 24-piece performance (in this example) after rendering or freezing the string bus. Funny thing is, even though this sounds like a makeshift solution, a 'real life' arranger will only hear the performance after 'rendering' as well (i.e. after it's actually played and recorded by a live orchestra).

Yeah the Strings section when I start to play CPU shoots up to 80-90% sometimes even up to 100%. I don't have this issue with other instruments. Solo instruments are a bit CPU heavy like you said, but this is unacceptable. Maybe it's something on the release? Do you experience the same?
  Resident 21.09.2011 15 734

I can run 15 instances of sections before my 5650U overloads (1024 buffer size on pipewire). Not great but not terrible too. Rest of the instruments are less taxing
Thank you for helping us help you help us all.

15 instances using this release you mean? Cause there clearly something wrong and idk what. To my PC using 1 instance of cello sections for expansions the CPU spikes up to 70-80% at 512 and same at 1024. I don't think that its my pc cause everything else works pretty much as expected.
  Resident 2.02.2017 593
+338
Well, it depends on the CPU, which one do you have?
