The Usual Suspects, the developers of the DSP56300 emulator, have dropped Nodal Red 2x, a new Synthesizer plugin recreating Clavia Nord Lead 2x.

Many well-known 90s virtual analog synthesizers are based on the Motorola DSP5630 DSP. For example, the Access Virus series A, B, C, TI, the Clavia Nord Lead 3, Waldorf Q, or the Novation Nova synthesizers.

The project’s core is, once again, the DSP56300 emulation plugin. It’s available as a free download.

I've been trying so many times and not working on Mac... the others plugins works so there is a bug with this one for sure!!!

Well at first glance very good idea, practically I feel it's alpha rather then beta or release, the amount of bugs is very high...

From what I encountered, CPU is very high compared to Ostirus, my laptop fans are working hard :P.. 35%-40 on single core...

1. When I press presets some times its added to the A/B/C/D buttons and they overlap others,

2. sometimes I hear endless low bass playing if I switch presets too fast..

3. The ui buttons some time don't affect preset anymore and they don't change it's charechter..

4. the buttons even though I change or tweak them, there is a red sign on the same spot they were before, like it's not updating ..

5. the presets out of the box, very immature and don't show the potential of the synth..

However Idea is great, and happy to see they are doing amazing effort to make this dreams come true..

tried vst3 in windows 10. i turn the knobs and it doesnt affect the sound. it works ok on macos monterey.

Since the hardware synth runs at 96 kHz, it is probably necessary to run this VSTi also at 96 kHz, to have the exact same sound. (?)

Thanks alot for the VSTi. Though could use some cpu optimization. Worked fine on Reaper 7.22, Windows X-Lite based on Windows 10.
The synth itself compared to Synth1 though is ridiculous. Quiet a joke. No delay, no saturation knob, no chorus, no phaser, no distortion, no compressor. Just a basic little synth that's all.

I agree - it's great that the Usual Suspects have released this, but as synths go today, it's pretty feeble, even compared to Synth1, as you say. I've been playing with the 18,000 presets that are available on Audioz, and they are mainly 'not great'.

That video is Nord Lead A1 - completely different synth.

The Nord Lead 1, 2 and 2X are not for everyone, it's a very 'mathematical' (i.e. digital) sounding synth, but it's got a nice 90s grimy personality. Can pull off some pretty unique vibes, if you're going for fatboy slim etc.

Is there a way to stop the continuous (and random) left-right panning in all the presets? Or is that a bug I'm having?

That said, I love The Usual Suspect soft synths and this one looks promising as well.

Sonoma M1 S1 looks Ok but doesnt see .bin files and presets.

I can only use Osirus and Ostirus, via DDMF Metaplugin to load them as AAX on Protools, all the others don't work, it's unclear how to install them despite having carefully read and followed the instructions on their website, they should make an installer that does everything automatically..

Don'y work on Monterey, Bitwig and Logic 11 don't want to open the plugin because is is not Apple signed, even if I run the command file !

ah thanks, I ran the terminal command in the download folder instead of the plugins folders. Had also to put the rom in the dedicated folder.
I have not yet tried to download presets but I don't care, I prefer to make my own sound from scratch.
That think sounds very good, I still have my old Nordlead 2 keyboard and it sounds the same in my opinion. No more worries with sysex dumps !!!
And it's free !!!
