Thanks for the share. I'm not really familiar with Image back-up software." Say I make a "complete" backup of my system. Will it save everything including Logic, Ableton, plug-ins, ect?

Warning.! Do not rely on this piece of shit software for anything critical! This is the 2nd time the Mac version has failed me. I have the newest version of 2.0 (5619). I do a lot of testing here (crash&burn). Anyway, I have 10.10.5 as my main partition and Bootcamp (Windows 10) on another partition. They were both brand new installs and configured. I proceeded to do a full backup of my iMac drive (both those partitions). I decided to test out the newer version because the initial 2.0 release failed me. So upon doing a successful restore (EFI and both those partitions) Windows 10 no longer boots. Dies 2 seconds into the boot and restarts in a loop over and over. Note: Acronis reported both the backup and restore tasks were totally successful with no errors! What a piece of shit this software is! Luckily I had my bootcamp Win 10 backed up prior with Winclone Pro v5.3. That restored the Bootcamp partition fine. Stay away from Acronis True Image 2016 2.0 for Mac! You've been warned!

Don't use this, use Carbon Copy Cloner, way more better and complete, you can schedule regular backups by advance so you don't even have to worry if your backup is fresh or not.

For example, each Sundays at midnight, CCC makes a perfect copy (bootable) of my boot partition ("Macintosh HD") on another HDD so if something goes wrong or messed up i can boot on this backup HDD and copy it again on the main HD so that everything goes back to normal.

Of course if you work and modify things a lot you can program daily or even hourly backups, but for that i have a second HDD (1Tb ordinary 2.5" or 3.5" HDD in an external USB3 enclosure is the perfect size, no need to spend more money*).

I use this second HDD with "Time Machine" (open "System Preferences" > "Time Machine" > turn it on, choose carefully your backup drive (it will be erased) and click on "Options..." to exclude external drives, the only one that's concerned here is "Macintosh HD").

Time Machine is perfect for often automatic incremental backups, AMHA the two systems complete each other wonderfully.

The result is that i don't have to worry for backups anymore, everything is automatic.

*unless you have big needs to backup absolutely everything, including plenty of external drives, but AMHA if this is your case a big NAS should be more appropriate for this task, here i was talking about backing up your main (boot) drive "Macintosh HD" only.
