It's a wine workaround of the R2R Win-version fully usable on Macs systems and DAWS
S-Gear2 run in a custom version of wineskin , iʼve included Wineasio and Jack osX
Thanks To BadnFunky , itʼs him who advised me about the benefits of wineasio ... and Jack osx
Wineasio and Jack working together and reduce drastically the latency to make it usable 5,8ms in/out for me ...but try less if you want just reduce the jackpilot buffer size ;-)

The size of the app is bigger than the original because of wine frameworks and win libs...

BEFORE ALL
NOTHING COMPLICATED , WATCH THE 4 VIDEOS to understand and copy settings etc ....
Set your Mac audio system preferences as usual with a classic ampli-sim standalone ,
iʼve recoreded guitar with the built-in input of my MacBookPro but if you using a sound card it works too :-) ... some cards will probably not working i havenʼt and canʼt test them all

sorry for the sound of the videos , i've recorded it with an iPhone ,
i made video-cap with quicktimeX and had some trouble to recording sound
because quicktimeX don't see jack in its sound input ...


INSTALL unzip with keka
1- Install JACK OSX (included in zip)
2 - Restart your Mac
3- Launch and start JackPilot in your Applications in "Jack" folder
4- Reg wineasio (watch Reg-wineasio texts & videos)
to reg wineasio , jackpilot have to be launched and started
5- Set jackpilot prefs & audio interface(s) and save (watch reduce latency video)
6- Launch SGear-2 ....and now anytime you want run S-gear2, it's like a classic app,
just run jackpilot before ... no need to re-set Jack & Sgear2 preferences.

DAW REWIRE : really simple
-Run qjackctl (in Jack folder) and press start ....
-Launch your DAW and set to your DAW input jackouter (then create a track and set input-1)
-Then back to qjackctl , go to Connect and link S-gear to your DAW
-Then disconnect pins of the system DI in your DAW to have just the S-Gear sound recorded

ok strange , i've re-download it and unzip it with keka ....
on 3 differents Macs ... Sierra 10.12.6 , and Maverick 10.9.5
no trouble ....i've you use keka to unzip ? maybe restart ...
i've also xquartz (X11) for long time installed ...maybe it can help

So this cannot be used with MIDI guitar as a plugin, correct?

no i don't think but midi guitar is a plug to use a guitar as a virtual instrument...to have a piano sound , synth sound etc ....
to have all exept a guitar sound ....
when you use midi guitar you have to insert the direct input of your guitar to have the best midi conversion
sgear is like an effect not an instrument...

Thanks for replying, Jeen. i understand what S Gear is, but I sometimes use guitar sample plugins as instruments (I don't play guitar) and would like to use S Gear as an effect on that track.

i'll upload a big update in couple weeks , and sgear will be included as an effect ....

Richard Sherwood If what you want is to use a sampled guitar played with a keyboard and use this as an effect, yes you can of course, like you can with all guitar effect plugins.

It works for me as standalone on mac os 10.10.5, but in protools it's impossible to record in rewire. Only in logic like the guy in the video shows.

maybe you can , try midi config in system prefs , and try to configure ProTools Aggregate ...

First, thanks jeen for this.
Works perfectly and is the best emulator I've tried so far.
I've managed to record directly to track with Logic, as seen in your video, and also with Studio One 3, Digital Performer 9.5, and though the Jack routing window tended no to keep Reaper as a source for a couple of tries, managed to get it working, recording a track in Reaper.
All at 48 kHh and 256 samples with no latency and all through a usb sound card.

I don't have ProTools so I don't know about that one.

This is great until a native mac cracked S-Gear appears.

just to precise , Wine is not an emulator , it run with the same arch that windows use ..... x86 ..... that's why it's fast , near from native speed ;-)
and soon Wine64 is coming

Yes, it works surprisingly well.
By emulator I meant S-Gear as a guitar amplification head and cabinet emulation.
I've been playing around with it and I can say that it also works well with Ableton Live and Cubase LE.
Good multicore processors and lots of RAM helps.

I've finally tested this, and it works well... sometimes i experience lags and hiccups, but at least you'll not be limited to the demo period...

I'm thinking about a clone partition of the OS to use the official demo version, bounce tracks, and deleting the clone OS when the demo period is over... Or maybe it's possibile a cleaner demo reset (???).

Anyway S-Gear sounds best for me, even a sub par guitar will sound REAL on it.

cool if it works , maybe lags and hiccups are created by your
cpu at 100% , if it's a notebook wire it on AC
or you audio card and you can fix that what your the buffer size ?
in jack , s-gear & your daw ??
i think your demo trick doesn't work not with the ilok version
i've published a legit non ilok version try it if you want

Thanks! This works although it runs very hot CPU. I think I'm gonna just purchase the Mac version.
