To the XP-Folks. Now its your turn to test this tool and give feedback. As far as I tested it works (a few bugs it still has..but none that have influences on its function). I tested patcher + extractor at last releases of Kontakt, FM8, Battery, Reaktor. As I dont use WinXP I've tested on an Oracle VM VirtualBox instance.

Yes, guys, please report on this, so Tracer can find if there's any bug
and possibly fix it, don't download and run away like many of you are used to!
You can contribute your little part just by reporting.
Every little thing is important when coding,

Danke, tracer, but the problem is, that some newer software (like Maschine 2) is linked against libs not available in Win XP, so even if you manage to install it (you can even do it with Microsoft's Application Verifier - it works too), it will just show an error message.

It still works for Kontakt 5 and Battery 4 though (I guess because the initial versions were officially supported on Windows XP).

I confirm.. Maschine 2 is almost impossible to use under XP...
The other NI products, and almost all their updates, work flawless...

The only problem that I'm running is with Guitar Pro 5..
I get no presets for almost all the expansions, but i dont know if it's my fault or whatever..

Thank you so much Tracer! This is really great for us who still use XP for audio, but dual boot with some other OS [Linux Debian in my case] for everything else.

Windows XP SP3, 3GB Ram, 2600Mhz AMD processor w/ NVidia GeForce Chipset.
Reaper/Cubase 6

ONLY RETAIL SOFTWARE!

Unipatcher

- Crashes from time to time, but it's not a big problem.. If it not works at first, give it a second chance!

Kontakt 5*

- Patched at the first time. Either with the included libraries and official online updates.

Battery 4*

- The version included in Komplete works on XP.
- Get some random crash while patchin' the various update, but after a few tries they work with no problems (software/libraries).

Reaktor 5.8*

- Get a BSoD while fixing the installer but I cant catch the code, sorry.. Workin' fine at the second attempt, expansions work well too.
- Monark gets some random crashes on Reaper, but not on Cubase.

Studio Effects Bundle*

- Everything fine, either the official online updates.

Guitar Rig 5*

- All is patched! But I cant get any presets by the expasions (it only shows "INIT") except from RAMMFIRE.
- A couple of time the standalone version did not recognise the ASIO driver, but it could be a problem of mine..

Maschine 2.0.2**

- Patched, but I couldnt use the Factory Library at all. I think NI starts to work without any XP compatibily mode in mind..
- Try to get it works with Mikro library but nothin'.. Maybe the folder routing is completely reworked..

MaschineMikro MKI**

- The patcher crashes.. But after a couple of minutes I remembered that is XP compatible by its own! xD

Thanks a mil Tracer! BTW Can anyone else create some clearer instructions? I cant seem to get it to work. the patcher creates the NI_XP_patcher.exe but when i open it it just reopens the patcher. any sugg

Discription is not quite correct...or the extractor does not what Tracer wanted it to do. Thats a little bit confusing.

You have to start the extractor. Put an original setup file (for example "Maschine 2 Setup PC.exe" (you can always find it after you mounted or extracted the NI-ISO in the folder "data")) to the "01-SETUP_ORIGINAL" folder. Then simply press "Start Extracting" and YES at the up -popping windows. Now the extractor automatically starts the "NI_XP_patcher.exe". Now press "patch" at the patchers UI...choose the original setup in the "01-SETUP_ORIGINAL" folder (you copied it to this folder). The patcher now patches the setup file and makes an backup file of the original one. Both can be found in the "01-SETUP_ORIGINAL" folder...(not in the "02-EXTRACTED_SETUP" folder..I think thats a little bit confusing in Tracers info text). Now simply copy this file back to the folder "data" in the NI-Setup and install the NI-Application.

I also dont know what the extractor is useful for because the necessary steps also can be done by starting the patcher and choosing the original setup file I guess. I just imagine the extractor is like a central app for a lot of NI-Reated stuff Tracer programmed.

And always remember..This XP-Patcher is only to modify the setup to make it installable to WinXP machines. As far as I know it doesnt crack an NI-Trail App or unpatched setups. So you have to take one of the R2R versions.

And yes : Lukehh is right with his quote... it's difficult for me because my english suckz a lot, so it can be result in confusion only because of my Descriptions how to handle this tool! If all is ANYWAY needed, i bring a less confusing release up here , fast as i can (in and excluding all suggestions i read here now)!

First let me send out a big THANK YOU for this fine work! Best thing for me on XP in 2015

@Tracer and @LukeHH (and whomever else may be involved in this post):

It has allowed me to upgrade on my XP system to latest FM8 and Massive and --most of all-- to Kontakt 5.3.1 (upgraded from the excellent LukeHH 5.2 WinXP fix). So once again thank you, in the name of all us poor XP guys!

BTW It did not work for Rounds 1.0, and it seemed to work for Monark although I havent installed Reaktor yet, so not sure.
