This worked for last Portable for me:
For anyone having difficulty remembering your last view try this:
Go to File>Options...Interface and uncheck/untick (get rid of the white box) for "Show fullscreen library browser when launching new empty Kontakt instances"
Click LIBRARY (at top in between FILE and VIEW) to see your required view
and then click View> Set View Settings As Default and should work OK on next relaunch.

Great info - Thanks.
The boxes being white makes it look to me as if they are unchecked.
(It's another poor graphical choice IMO)
Note: I lost the "VIEW>Set View Settings As Default" in the menu, but the settings save anyway once you uncheck the box.
(I am using v8.0.1 ...but will update with this)

Just looking at their new Kontakt logo font type shows it all, about (lack of) taste and aesthetics.

You're very welcome.... yes very poor white box/blob choice.
With Standalone the 'VIEW>Set View Settings As Default' is missing as you say but still seems to work

Oh wow... I thought I was screwed as a Win7 user. But no, here it is! The magical 'Win7 Come Back'.
I just tried the Win7 install, works great both in standalone and in DAW.
Still just preliminary tests, but sems to be fine.
I moved over my K7 UserData to K8, and boom! It's all there.
Thanks, vkDanilov!

BEST Version - since R2R release constantly loses it's license on my Win11, sadly ... Library Manager is a BLISS

Very much appreciated, vkDanilov !

Can anyone please tell me how to add a Kontakt Library? I've successfully installed this but don't know how to add libraries. Also do I need another tool to register the libraries? Does this very require us to use the TEAM R2R KONTAKT Manager v1.1.13-R2R app? Sorry, I am new to Kontakt and first time trying this install.

You should possibly have a shortcut on your desktop named KTP Library Manager but if not it is here:
(YOUR DRIVE LETTER) : \ KONTAKT 8 PORTABLE \ Helper \ Library Manager
Run KTP Library Manager and click ADD and then navigate to your Kontakt Library(s) Folder and [Select Folder]
then click 'Find libraries in selected folder' and wait some time until it has finished searching.
It will say something like: Search Completed. Total found 92.
You can then click the X (to close top right)
and then click SAVE
It will probably say something like "Your Libraries will show next time you open Kontakt"
Close the Library Manager v8.1.0 (click the X to close top right)

and no you don't need TEAM R2R Kontakt Manager with this Portable version as it just seems to work with all Libraries.

After registering libraries in the KTP Library Manager, they didn’t initially appear in Kontakt’s menu. Although all libraries were saved in the Library Manager, restarting Ableton resolved the issue, and everything now shows up in Kontakt.

Use the 'Manage Libraries' button in K8 Portable.
With Manager open, drag library folders to it, they will pop up there.
They are not actually 'moved' by doing this, they are just installed, Kontakt is made aware of them and where they are on your drives (anywhere you like).
Save and close Manager, then close Kontakt.
Reopen Kontakt and everything is there in the side pane.
No registering is ever required in Portable.
- A note: Don't do this from inside your DAW. Do it in K8 standalone mode, far more convenient.

Start the Kontakt 8 Portable library manager ('Manage Libraries' button).
Drag kontakt library folders from File Explorer and drop them in the manager.
Save and close Manager. Close Kontakt, Reopen Kontakt. Now the libraries are in the side pane.

I had the same problem and it took me a while, because Kontakt really has the shittiest UI of all times.

If you open it and still see nothing showing up you might be in a different view. Close it with the small X at the top right, behind that should be the actual view with the libraries at the left.

You can notice if you're in the wrong mode if switching from classic to default view doesn't change anything. After you closed the window you need to be in default view. In classic view nothing shows up.

The manager does seem to find them and I clicked "save" but the libraries do not show listed in kontakt. The manager worked well in v7, so I know how it's supposed to work. I will keep trying but so far the manager does not get the libraries to show in k8.

Sorry for the stupid question but how could I update from previous kontakt 8 portable? If install this I ended up with fresh kontakt 8 with no libraries, any idea?
  Member 28.10.2021 337

You need to copy the UserData folder from your previous Kontakt to this one.
It contains all the info about your libraries, everything will look the same as before.
Just replace the default UserData folder in K8 with your existing one. Or merge, if you prefer.
