It is an interesting topic and I investigated a bit. No wonder NI has been making bad business decisions for many years. They "partnered" with EMH (Munchen investors) in 2017 and then "partnered" with Francisco (have no idea who that is) in 2021. Such a shame. :( They were excellent music software developers, and even their hardware is good quality and value.

Just a heads up for anyone deciding whether to go with this version or just the bobdule version of Kontakt.

I downloaded the bobdule version and everything worked well with existing Kontakt libraries, however the release never seemed to be packaged with a new Kontakt Button, and using the old one (supplied with Kontakt 7) would not work correctly, so I was not able to add any new libraries. I have never had any issues with bobdule versions in the past, so maybe my antivirus just quarantined the button automatically.

I uninstalled the bobdule version of Kontakt 8 and tried again with this bobdule and TCD version instead, which seems to be patched differently. After testing, everything seems to be working flawlessly. A new Kontakt Button is provided and runs as standalone, and will also launch inside of Cubase too.

100% works perfectly!

I just wanted to let you know of my experiences on this, in case you are unsure on which version of Kontakt 8 to install

this is my first time installing kontakt. i downloaded this version, but i don't see any instructions at all in the download. i ran the install, but when i bring up the program it asks me to validate. what do i need to do at this point?

Just for understanding correctly what you say about the "Kontakt button" in the "bobdule only" version:
When you say the old one "would not work correctly", do you mean it doesn´t integrate into the Kontakt settings page, or do you mean you can´t even start it ourside Kontakt and/or it doesn´t add libraries as it should?

(when we are talking about the "Kontakt button", are we talking about the "addlibrary.exe" file by the way? Because this one was coming with Kontakt 6.0-6.4 releases (vkdanilov) if I remember correctly. And - used standalone, so just by running the file itself - you can add libraries with it ever since then, works with 8.1.0 too.
