Bitwig Studio v4.3.10 [WIN macOS LINUX]-FLARE screenshot
Team FLARE | 9 October 2022 | WiN: 296 MB | macOS: 385 MB | LiNUX: 277 MB
RELEASE NUMBER: FLARE-1890/FLARE-1891/FLARE-1892

Bitwig Studio 1 was hello, world! Version 2 brought program-wide modulators and CV integration. Version 3 saw the birth of The Grid, our modular sound-design environment. And for version 4, new musical timelines have arrived.

Welcome to Bitwig Studio 4.

Smart Splits for a New Mix
By working in the frequency domain, these devices split your audio into hundreds of frequency bands for analysis, and group similar elements together onto channels. From there, you mix the channels as you normally would ù adjust the volume, move the panning, or insert Bitwig devices and plug-ins to customize each level of sound.

Four Ways to Go Spectral
Each device targets a different musical element, allowing for subtle mix tweaks or creative sonic ruptures.

Transient Split
Divides percussive transients and tonal sounds. Stuttering only the drum hits in a full loop might be nice. Or separating instruments from percussion means mixing the way you want to.

Freq Split
Distributes a sound across four channels, like a set of filter banks. With random delay times and panning on each channel, we've got a spectral delay. Or use Bitwig's modulators to shuffle through a different effect on each channel to create a new kind of phaser.

Loud Split
Separates the quiet, mid, and loud elements within a sound. Cranking up the softest parts of a sound will instantly transform it. Or let a thin section of the sound ring out without breaking the mix.

Harmonic Split
Spreads harmonics into two groups and collects non-harmonics into a third channel. We could isolate the fundamental frequency and give everything else some distance. Or maybe distorting the even harmonics and adding chorus to the odds is the new cool thing?

Outer Spectra
Harness the power of sophisticated spectral analysis with Outer Spectra, the accompanying sound package to Bitwig's Spectral Suite. It includes over 70, mostly audio FX presets for Freq Split, Harmonic Split, Loud Split and Transient Split, and a few synth presets with spectral devices in the FX slots.

Our release also includes the newly introduced Spectral Suite. Enjoy!

this is awsome!

Hopefully poor bitwig can still pay the electric bill ...

I think after their add'ons error they won't be able to pay anything and the audience will turn away from them

people are very forgivable!

I mean if you are Linux, Bitwig is the only DAW, which is unlocked. Reaper also on linux, but the 3rd party plugin party on linux is very small and bitwig is quite full compared to reaper.

You can run a lot of VST's under Linux in Reaper with Yabridge. The problem is that plugins use extra vbrun or whatever-their-name-is libraries that are not standard in Wine and you have to figure out which library is needed by that plugin. Unfortunately I don't know how to figure that out. But a lot work just out of the box!

Yeah, 'yabridge' is very cool! Thanks to him, I finally switched from macOS to GNU/Linux

Not a Bitwig user but I just googled this add-ons issue out of curiosity. Seems quite nasty. Hope they fixed it somehow.
[2009] Sorry for my English. I'm working on it
[2017] I'm beginning to improve. Hell yeah, I'm a fast learner :D

Compared to others DAWs its an all-in-one, "really" better solution for:
- real sound design (vs a loops stacking thing or linear arranger)
- intuitive creativity
- powerful routing
- fresh rewrite of heavy dinosorian stuff

I admit that for the initial price, add'ons buisness could a little bit to much. All-in-all, why not only pay for what you need? It would be good to see them acquired by some big company to give a boost to its development. But, for me, it's definitely the future of DAW.

“Bitwig Studio” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Trash.

after replace bitwig.jar.

EDIT: NVM... i figured out.. just had to open and close the app as soon it was loading.. then replace it the bitwig.jar file and reload it again.
Don't believe 'em when they try to say it's over!

Why in God's name are people always so quick to complain that a particular release is broken when dozens of other people have managed to install it successfully?

"It doesn't work for me so it MUST be broken!"

"Have you stopped to consider the possibility that you're doing it wrong?"

"Impossible!"

That's a very cunty thing to say.

open the activation.bwreg and change it to your name. I think the maximum character is 8 without space, all capital letter. I don't know the limit, if you put in something it didn't support, it will show "USER" instead of what you write in there.

It makes no sense to say you’re not good at it. It’s like saying, “I’m not good at being a monk.” You are either living as a monk or you’re not.

Are these new releases running fine without a timebomb? Some older releases stopped working after a while.
Also shame on Bitwig for doing this to their loyal customers base, I hope they break the silence and find a solution - otherwise I feel many legit users might "update" from here from now on :)

The last few have all been fine for me.

I am legit user and a year and a half ago when i switched from patched to legit, I could not load my projects properly (I think they would jost not activate the audio engine). I had to copy paste from old projects to new legit projects. This hassle doesn't worth the trouble of going patched way with Bitwig. I just buy a renewal every 2.5 years and stay upt to date with bug fixes and compatibility and I'm fine.

can you load from patched to legit projects? (the other way around?)
