Bitwig Studio v4.3.10 [WIN macOS LINUX]-FLARE screenshot
Team FLARE | 9 October 2022 | WiN: 296 MB | macOS: 385 MB | LiNUX: 277 MB
RELEASE NUMBER: FLARE-1890/FLARE-1891/FLARE-1892

Bitwig Studio 1 was hello, world! Version 2 brought program-wide modulators and CV integration. Version 3 saw the birth of The Grid, our modular sound-design environment. And for version 4, new musical timelines have arrived.

Welcome to Bitwig Studio 4.

Smart Splits for a New Mix
By working in the frequency domain, these devices split your audio into hundreds of frequency bands for analysis, and group similar elements together onto channels. From there, you mix the channels as you normally would ù adjust the volume, move the panning, or insert Bitwig devices and plug-ins to customize each level of sound.

Four Ways to Go Spectral
Each device targets a different musical element, allowing for subtle mix tweaks or creative sonic ruptures.

Transient Split
Divides percussive transients and tonal sounds. Stuttering only the drum hits in a full loop might be nice. Or separating instruments from percussion means mixing the way you want to.

Freq Split
Distributes a sound across four channels, like a set of filter banks. With random delay times and panning on each channel, we've got a spectral delay. Or use Bitwig's modulators to shuffle through a different effect on each channel to create a new kind of phaser.

Loud Split
Separates the quiet, mid, and loud elements within a sound. Cranking up the softest parts of a sound will instantly transform it. Or let a thin section of the sound ring out without breaking the mix.

Harmonic Split
Spreads harmonics into two groups and collects non-harmonics into a third channel. We could isolate the fundamental frequency and give everything else some distance. Or maybe distorting the even harmonics and adding chorus to the odds is the new cool thing?

Outer Spectra
Harness the power of sophisticated spectral analysis with Outer Spectra, the accompanying sound package to Bitwig's Spectral Suite. It includes over 70, mostly audio FX presets for Freq Split, Harmonic Split, Loud Split and Transient Split, and a few synth presets with spectral devices in the FX slots.

Our release also includes the newly introduced Spectral Suite. Enjoy!

This is exactly the important point, you must stop the song after selecting each preset and play it again, the time bomb will explode.

Can i install over previous version or must I uninstall? Will I lose my instruments, FX Layers etc?

I installed "beside" version 4.3.
It creates a new folder "C:\Program Files\Bitwig Studio\4.3.10\" and it seems to keep all the settings from v4.3.
I then uninstalled version 4.3 and manually deleted the folder it left behind (Left behind because it contained two files the installer did not place there.)

I do not know if EVERYTHING from a previous version will be migrated.
Make a backup first.

Thanks, was easy. I only had to delete 1 folder.

12.6 Monteray, running like a charm on Both Intel & M1.. thanks Flare.
I own Bitwig as my DAW of choice and I can't tell you how pissed off I am with them

I don't know yet how good this program is, but several things seem lacking and/or illogical.
The screen size and position will not save?
No "tree" view in the browser? (as far as I can tell)
No expected functions via default shortcut keys?
( I mean nothing happens at all with many-looking in the "settings" window for the list but not being able to have the list separate sucks..).
Etc...

The more I explore the more I am disappointed.
Well, at least I can use it to convert the midi out from FL Studio projects (a poor decision to use that FL thing for midi at ALL) .

Perhaps they have re-invented the wheel ... and it is square.

I think you need more time with Bitwig.
Screen size? I'm using Bitwig always in full screen.
You can nearly all functions map to your own shortcut and save this.

There are many comparison videos on youtube.

Bitwig = Ableton Live on steroids.

Some people develop M4L devices, some people make music.

In Bitwig, a musician can easily use Bitwig's Grid system (unlike M4L).

The better DAW is the one that meets most of your needs. I have never found a DAW that meets all my needs. Bitwig is maybe missing M4L but, I don't like M4L integration in Live and the whole is too heavy for me. Bitwig has less but, better integrated. Which lefts space for creativity.

This runs fine on my Win7 system, but it eats CPU.
Even when it's empty, not doing anything - no processing going on, no vst scans etc.
I tested n-Track Studio 9, Ableton 10 Live and Sonar Platinum the same way, they all used 0% when not running anything.
Pity, because I really like the interface and layout.

No cpu usage on my Core i3 9100f. Windows 10 x64.

«FLARE» you're a legend! Thank you so much for the release! The GNU/Linux community appreciates you very much! I hope the Bitwig management will come to their senses about paid supplements, because with such an attitude – only cracked software.

Thank you again!

Yes, spectral suite v4.4 is free, that's why I requested v4.4 to FLARE, I'm sure FLARE can release v4.4 by fixing the time bomb, they said they found the problem. and they are trying to fix it, say goodbye to the time bomb in version v4.4

No point in downloading this now that Bitwig listened to their customers and included spectral suite in 4.4
