Very nice! I will include the .dll needed for VST2 from the previous post of this that I commented, in the .dll pack from SubLab, so Windows 7 installer end-users can have it all handy in one download. (The SubLab ones are needed for XL too.)

Win 7 users: Drop these files in the appropriate folders, System32 and SYSWOW64. The files are separated in the archive in similarly-named folders. You will see about it. Very easy: http://peeplink.in/7901cb8a9042

I managed to get the vst3 working last time around, but never managed with the vst2. I haven't given up though. Thanks to you both for your efforts.

Edit: For some reason, this time around was the charm. Now everything working perfectly as it should. Thanks again to you both.

Thank you for not forgetting Windows 7 users. At the current time (with proper configuration and disabling unnecessary services, including a high-frequency event timer), this is the most stable operating system.

i had 5 crashes with windows 10 in 4 years. think i had more with windows 7 back in the days.

if you disable services in windows 10, it works great and is a lot more convenient then win7 every will be, plus new software will run out of the box without additional patching.
If you want to supply something, you can. PM is open for that.

You can find everything in the search - enter Windows DAW optimization and check the system for maximum loaded plugins. If everything is fine with you at the moment, then I do not advise you to set something up - you can only make it worse. For starters, you can simply try working with a RAM disk, and disable HT if you haven't done so already.

I've only just gotten used to Windows 7. I know I'm going to have to upgrade to Windows 10 -- there's a pile of stuff I'd like to run that will only work in Windows 10. But my box is working so nicely, and I know it's going to take days at the very least to install and configure Windows 10 to the way I like it. And I hate that with every iteration, they take more and more control away from the user and tie more and more stuff to your hardware.

I don't envisage ever installing WIndows 11 thouigh, Hopefullly Linux will be up to speed by the time Windows 10 is no longer tenable.

You're welcome. People often like to talk about stability in operating systems. The truth is that all of Microsoft's operating systems are pretty much equal in terms of stability. It there ever is any kind of stop error issue, they fix it before the blink of an eye, and there is no real impact. (I am not talking about Windows Updates and results.)

In other words, stop error debugging is always done while purposely avoiding to look at any Microsoft drivers - they simply do not ever fault, with extreme rare exception under exremely rare circumstances, and if so it gets fixed like lightning when they are made aware.

So, nobody is suffering along with this or that OS when they could have a "more stable" one from MS instead. 3rd party drivers and results are a separate story - if you want to consider them, then you might have something to talk about. "Company XYZ drivers work better under VIsta than 7" as such an example. Or "Company XYZ drivers work on 7 but crash Vista." Things like that. But the foundation of the concept of stability is always the same at the base itself, the OS.

@ArticStorm, yesterday while researching about muted audio in demo versions, I saw a comment from you on sister site. You ever work out about that, at all? I had the idea to search for "buffer" in strings. Maybe it gets somewhere. I don't know.

It must be admitted that users of W10-11 unwittingly become beta testers of operating system support, plus new ways to protect products are coming out - which only interfere with stable operation. So the ideal is a finished product without an internet connection.

Although I have actually bought a License key for SubLabXL , I was not able to get past the Registration process ( it was crashing here: [[
04a0:fixme:combase:RoGetActivationFactory (L"Windows.System.Profile.SystemManufacturers.SmbiosInformation", {080XXXXX-6XXX-4XXX-bXXX-f927381XXXXX}, 000000001708F9F0): semi-stub
04a0:err:combase:RoGetActivationFactory Failed to find library for L"Windows.System.Profile.SystemManufacturers.SmbiosInformation"

]] and I'm waiting on support to get back to me.

So for now, I'm actually running this 'version' on Linux through wine on Reaper DAW and I have to say that it works flawlessly, I mean everything works and there are no glitches in the GUI etc.

Well done to Articstorm !!

SubLab XL uses much more CPU (CPU Spikes) for me than SubLab hopefully they fix this in an upcoming update.
