Nektarine is designed to enable control of plugins from compatible Nektar hardware complete with parameter and patch browsing.

Capable of hosting VST, VST3 and AU plugins, Nektarine can be run in any DAW or MIDI music software product able to host AAX (Pro Tools), AU, VST or VST3 plugins.

Nektarine is included with compatible Nektar products including:
Aura
Panorama T4/T6
Panorama P1/P4/P6 running alongside Bitwig, Reason or Studion One integration*

I have an Nektar LX88. Is there a benefit to using this as opposed to the regular integration. I use logic, cubase and reason.

It depends on which DAW and what OS you are favoring. I have a P6 running with Logic Pro on High Sierra. I have much better control than Nektarine provides. Perhaps with a newer OS it's ok, but from what I've read not so much with regards to Logic Pro... YMMV

It does work without a Nektar controller. But, not to the same extent as it will with a Nektar controller. I have a P6 integrated with Studio One. This Nektarine software is a freebie on the site. Not sure why it's in this section, and why anyone wants to be "anonymous" about sharing some free software.

No, it's not a feebie! It's part of the mentioned compatible Nektar Hardware and only accessible for registered owners! And the reason why anyone wants to be "anonymous" about sharing, is maybe because she or he doesn't want to be bothered with redundant comments of people with wrong assumptions!?

I got the P6 nearly 10 years ago, and until now it wasn't tucked away for those who purchased a hardware product. However, it is still free software.. you don't have to pay to register it. It's an optional utility is what it is. I never downloaded it. It's in the same category as the firmware and driver updates.. free.

The Bolt Synthesizer is their only software with a price tag on it. Both VR and R2R released it here 4 years ago.. and it's still here. Nektarine existed at that time as well. They didn't release Nektarine back then for the same reason they wouldn't need to release it now. It's a free utility.. especially for those who have much of a use for it to begin with.

I think there are different conceptions of what a freebie is.
But at least,
It's now placed in the right section!
However, Nektarine ever was a very buggy and so not very useful software. This has changed with the major update to 2.5! Now i really enjoy to work with!

Well, it doesn't really work with my crappy controller... unsurprisingly.
I guess there's no substitute to buying one of their hardware controllers.
Way less expensive than Native Instruments offering anyway.

I found a way to change presets in plugin synths using MIDI keyboardController, using Nektarine. I only used it on ANA SonicAcandamy and you set up your nektar lx 88+ in the MIDI Remote Tab on the bottom part of arrange. Using Quick Control Track you can have multi knob controlling multiple perameters in same plugin. But anyway, choose to Romove all Quick Control Assignments, then link two, one from controls from MIDI Remote the Patch button on the LX88+ and the other is the Top-Right of the 8 rotary knobs on the LX88+. Now be sure to go into the first Quick Controls that is blank and choose Nektarine and scroll down to Program (note not the lower blank program but the patches of the plugin 'Program'). Use the [Patch] button on the LX to Initial the presets (bring to beginning of presets) then use the top-right knob to surf through presets.
