What is this modelled after, and what would be the paid alternatives?

It is modeled on the Harrison 32C series console. UAD does the most obvious emulation of it. That is very good and I use it daily but obviously, you have to have UAD hardware to use the plugin. Also, Harrison do their own version with their Mixbus 32C DAW. Also very good but I am not fond of the workflow of that DAW personally. So if you do not have UAD, this is probably your best bet for a Harrison 32C sound. For me, it is lacking in the bottom end that the UAD and the original console have but it is very good.

Thank you. Yeah UAD is not feasible for me. How would you compare the Harrison sound to the sound of other big consoles, like SSL or Focusrite etc.? Like, what genres is this most typically used for?

Harrison is most famously known for the Michael Jackson albums like Off the Wall. Kind of like a Neve or MCI. Nice thick creamy warm sound. SSLs are punchier, cleaner and more aggressive. More pop sounding, especially the E Channel.
