Well, Christmas came f*cking early. I am going to buy one of his plugs to compensate for the amount of stuff I'm taking, and everyone should do the same (not realistically feasible but would be way more correct).

Massive thanks for this.
So far tested PureEQ and BXQ, really good sounding EQs, top notch, up there with Acustica.

Makes mixing alot easier, feels like cheating.

Their EQs sound really good, thanks! Their compressors, on the other hand, are very hard to use due to awful VU meter implementation; Their meter seems to be responding mostly to the output gain, not gain reduction. No matter how much you crank the input gain, their VU only responds when you mess with the output...Really weird behavior that shouldn't really have gotten past beta. But, like I said, the EQs are pretty good.

VU meter aside, are the compressors good as well?
  Member 15.04.2017 181

Morgan, thats because gain staging doesnt work like with typical algo plugins.
Many times its hungry for a hotter signal, insert a trimmer before the plugin, input alone on the comp. wont be enough.
And yea, some of his compressor/VU meters act weird as well, rely on your ears.

That's a problem he's got to solve, man. There's absolutely no logical reason for his plugins to work on a different gain staging standard than the other 99,9% plugins in the audio world. Many developers have been doing component modeling as he does, and all of them have functional VU meters...It's beyond my comprehension why his VUs register more gain reduction when you increase the output level of his plugins. Anyway, I'm having a lot of fun with his EQs...As for compression, it's hard to rely only on ears, that's why most (if not all) analog compressors have meters....Specially transparent compressors: The more transparent they are, the harder it is to calculate gain reduction by ears alone.

What can you do mate, it is what it is you know, i agree with you and so do many others who complain about it....i was surprised at first but then just accepted this different approach until he adds a clean input output, doubt he will change the internal gain staging though....who knows.
Pure rock n roll, hehe.

Yeah I thought there was something wrong with the metering on the Buster when I stuck it on a drum group.
I put a gain plugin before it to boost the signal but in order to get the needle flapping the gain plugin was +10bd and into the red. The Buster threshold was at -20, ratio at 3:1, Slow attack, fast release. Still the meters didn't go over 4.
The plugin effectively screwed my gain staging as I like to work with K-metering and it didn't seem loud enough for Buster.

I have my go to settings for certain things but it is un-nerving when you don't see any activity on the meters.
All plugins, especially analogue modelled, are designed with an optimum input gain level in mind (the sweet spot if you like). Perhaps a read of the manual can tell us what that is.
It'll take some getting used to for sure.
I'm still gonna try these EQ's though.

I guess this guy deserves anyway some cash for his amazing and very cheap plugins.

HLQ doesn"t work, doesn' pass sound.
thanks for all the pack, and yes independent developer need help, so buy some very cheap but awesome plugin, the bax is killer and subtle on very high end speaker.

Are real people downloading this and using it? Or does it seem like a marketing technique for brand awareness?

The likes are extremely high but the comments are full of errors and issues..

Just curious..

Yes I'm real and downloaded it, but I'd have ignored/not bought had it not been here anyway so maybe it works as advertising.

Frankly I preferred the PSP E27 which is a killer plugin that sounds better than all of these and can pretty much clone/copy them all but better and has more flexibility and much nicer workflow/Gui/features. These are ok sounding, towards the better end of the plug-in eq spectrum, but with stuff like the E27 out there I don't see a need anymore.

E27 also kills the soundtoys sie-q, again it can almost 'clone' it but sounds better, less congested, less digital (and the sie-q is a GREAT eq so it shows how great the E27 is!). sie-q is a touch more nasal, less open.

I sound like I work for PSP don't I? lol... no it's on this site.
Another great one is Softube EQF-100 (or grand channel) a very very slight notch below the E27 but has some extra tools to work with. If E27 doesn't work I'll go to EQF-100.
