Does somebody know if it's still not usable offline?

Yes, SoundBridge currently requires internet access for online activation every time you open the software. You can activate SoundBridge with the internet and then bring it outdoors if you’d like. However, if you close the program you’ll have to use a HotSpot to re-activate it.

Yes, we know some people find this annoying and we’re working hard to find an offline solution. Bare with us!

Looks interesting, but yes - this online only thing is annoying. I'm going to wait until there's an offline mode available.

First thing I notice is that it looks pretty good gui wise and doesn't look like a toy like.. ahem... Reaper, lol. I guess I will have to try it. Thanks for sharing.

Curious- What is your definition of "toy" that you're using here, Scarlett?

R4pToR Forget it, this DAW is fantastic: You MUST be connected to use it and it crashes while scanning plugins, what else would you want?
  Member 7.07.2016 88

I don't know, man. I think it needs to add a 3 dollar hardware dongle that they sell for 60 dollars. Always online isn't secure and convenient enough for me. Maybe a proprietary plugin format for the scanning process to crash to, as well? I love jumping through hoops. It makes me feel like I am not using a toy, like Cockos Reaper.

And ofc I won't test this DAW, it's a joke (the DAW), I mean, having to connect to the internet to whatever it wants to do is a VERY BIG hint you should stay away from it, right? (and by you I mean everyone in general)

Well, thanks for the heads up :/
I guess Reaper is still undefeated when it comes to finding a reliable 'free' DAW.

Don't get me wrong, my main DAW is Reaper, is just that when even when I fire up
Cubase SX (let alone 9) you can tell right away there is a "feel" to Cubase that is sturdy, and has lots of intrincacies that makes it feel "solid" as opposed to the "plasticy" feel
of Reaper, whereas plasticy means it feels it can break anytime you touch it. Cubase interface at least look wise is so much better than Reaper's, not even alternative themes make it really feel sturdy as Cubase. "TCP" Tracks in Cubase are stellar, the panel to the left of them is so useful, and even if you were to setup Reaper to behave similarly, not even close... midi wise,,, not even a contest, I don't know who came up with the GREATEST idea to select items with the right click + drag... when the whole universe uses left + click to select stuff... Navigator is a joke... Reaper is "great" if you get the time to use it though... as in when I use it some stuff is super quick to do and since now I am mainly recording stuff instead of using midi stuff... but sometimes I really want to hit it in the face... I don't expect you to understand :P

Funny thing I felt same thing about Ableton Live before I moved to Reaper and haven't felt that way since. =D

I understand what you said just perfectly. Do I agree with it? That doesn't really matter, now, does it? Everything you're talking about is subjective. We are not talking objective facts here, and I would much rather argue the objective than fight over the subjective.

Objectively- Reaper does essentially everything more expensive DAW's do, and at a much better price. I would say that any argument for Reaper should revolve around its price and unique features, such as how highly customizable it is. Your problem with the midi editor can be fixed within the program itself. You can change the behavior of any input in that damn DAW.

An objective argument against Reaper would be a difficult thing. Again, it wouldn't be about what we like and don't like and hate. It wouldn't be about feelings. There would have to be something really broken about it for me to really throw it under the bus. I can't think of anything. If I were looking to criticize Pro Tools or some underdeveloped DAW's like MixCraft, I would have a lot to say. For a lot of DAW's, I would at least mention some invasive software protection or needless instances taking up your precious CPU/RAM. Cockos Reaper doesn't even have that. It's essentially unprotected and it's incredibly light. I really can't think of an objective downside to Reaper, compared to other such featured DAW's.

If I were going to attack a DAW and call it a toy, I wouldn't attack Reaper. I certainly wouldn't attack Cubase either. I don't even know if I would attack Pro Tools with that, because despite all of Avid's anti-liberty behavior/choices/coding, it can still get the job done and it's not missing anything huge.

But since you were just giving some subjective opinion, that's fine. You're allowed to not like Reaper for any trivial reason you can think of. It doesn't hurt anyone.

OK Guys, all this conversation is very interesting, but we are going too far of what's being posted.
So please, let's keep in topic .

I remember trying this before and it kept crashing during vst scan. Tried again and it does the same. Any vst it doesn't like and wants to blacklist (which seems to be most of them) it just crashes the programme.

It's really straightforward and gives you full access to your audio files either internal or external drive. I just wish Magix Samplitude got this GUI.

there is meanwhile a way to activate it for offline usage.

Care to elaborate?

I pass this one because of the online activation bullshit everytime you start this fine looking DAW, i dont need this company to look over my shoulder and develop their DAW, cause eventualy they will close activation and set this on the market as a retail/paid for product which will be very hard to crack because of all those free users help. i wait for off line only.

I know some of you will try to kill me for this: When I drop some audio files on the sound bridge, it is really loud, I don't know what they do in the sound engine. Do you guys notice?

Well, always online ?? It's a joke ? And, Does this Daw have any instruments or fx ? In the video, they didn't talk about fx or instru. It's weird.
When it's free, in general, you are the product... So, I thought that : They could observe user's comportment, and then upgrade their stuff and made a commercial DAW.
Maybe I'm paranoid... lol
I prefer to stay with my Reason & my Studio One.
