Big Fish Audio London Orchestral Percussion GiGA-DYNAMiCS screenshot
Team DYNAMiCS | May 2009 | 1.36 GB
Four discs jam-packed with over 2.5 Gigabytes of the finest orchestral percussion ever produced. Meticulous care went into the recording of these samples, and legendary programming makes this library more expressive than anything else available.A huge selection of instruments are here; for example 8 crash cymbals, 7 snare drums, etc. all at up to 16 stereo velocities.

Many instruments also include right and left-hand samples, intelligently laid out for maximum playability. You get multiple articulations per instrument, such as rolls, glissandos, flams, scrapes and more for the most realistic simulations. Each instrument was sampled in its natural environment, the orchestra hall, and most include release samples so the amount of hall can be controlled via the mod wheel. All instruments were recorded in the classical tradition - no close mic'ing - to allow the sound to develop properly. Melodic instruments such as glockenspiel feature multiple dynamics and samples for every available pitch. Finally, there's an orchestral percussion library for professionals!

And before Spitfire or Orchetral Tools started to spoil us, we had that kind of lib on Giga to make us dream.

Tascam has decided to cease both the development and the support of its popular GigaStudio sampler and other product line. After the high development of the master Kontakt, that old-fashioned GigaStudio platform would not last long. Thanks Kontakt.

Actually you don't know that since they decided to stop everything before even trying to compete against kontakt. In its time, Gigastudio was very innovative and quite unique: there is no way to tell what would have been the result of this competition. This is just unfortunate that Tascam decided to stop everything so fast. In some ways, this is very similar to what happened to Cakewalk. Finally I wouldn't thanks kontakt since a monopoly situation is never a good thing despite the appearance.

This news about Tascam has decided to cease I have from 2008, when Kontakt was already being used by many good studios from L.A, NY, Europe and Japan.

I agree with you Tascam contributed as no one else to music, I was always a fan of them, 'Gigastudio' was everything to me, but I didn't expect the design of new applications like Kontakt evolve so much, not only in beauty but also in functionality, scripts of Kontakt came to change a whole story.
'Kontakt 2.2' was released before in 2006, when Tascam begins to lose GigaSampler sales brutally.
In 2012 I bought 'Tascam DP 24' but many colleagues told me their sales were already falling a lot, therefore, I have 'N friends' in several stores, so I knew about these numbers.
I'm even afraid to lose support for my Tascan desk, because the new musicians compose up on simple notebooks and even see the score of the whole orchestra.

It is not a monopoly situation, but a popular preference, Tascam had its own engineers and musicians, while there are thousands of developers and musicians who create their products within the kontakt platform, but never worked for NIK.
I only worry about Oligopoly in which it is difficult to see the real competition.

But, thank the GigaSampler for the great job that did.

These products look like human beings, they live and they feel sad when they are near death, maybe the same happens with Kontakt, and me and you, will love the new ...

I agree with what you wrote except when you state that it's not a monopoly. The current situation in 2018 is that Kontakt has no competition, except maybe if you consider Halion from Steinberg which represents less than 2% of the sampling market (any libs by third party developers on this one?). It is indeed a monopoly situation since there are a lot of obstacles for any competition to enter in the software sampling market and most important to remain on this market long enough to be an alternative to the current leader (NI). Steinberg/Yamaha isn't a small company as we know but it doesn't really help them in front of Kontakt, or maybe they don't want to allocate the relevant resources/efforts to succeed in this field.

Ugh! Halion less than 2%, such a difference.

This is unfortunately true....
Sampling being such an important part of music today, this is not an healthy situation.
