KONTAKT - 59,5 GB
Inspired by film and classical music icons this collection pushes the boundaries of traditional sampling methods by introducing revolutionary features like Auto Divisi combined with Polyphonic True Legato from the Next Generation Choir Series and a Thematic Approach towards playing techniques. Capturing conducted musical samples as opposed to static generic samples Afflatus Chapter I features several custom-made articulation groups able to portray one specific style per group with ease. This approach grants the user highly specialized and inspiring virtual instruments able to perform music with virtuosity: Gone are the days of soulless samples.

The styles/moods featured in Afflatus Chapter I range from classical to modern contemporary film scores. Some of the masters which inspired the developement of this collection are Henry Mancini, Sergei Prokofiev, Bernard Herrmann, John Williams and Arvo Pärt. Here is an out of the box demonstration of the Scene d' Amour Section depicting the thematic approach combined with Polyphonic True Legato.

The sounds and styles presented in Afflatus are vast in terms of colours and playing techniques. From modern minimalist to golden age and lush epic string ensembles - it's all inside just one collection, which makes Afflatus a great extension to other string libraries covering the bread and butter articulations as well. Here's a live playthrough of the Minimalist String Section.

While other libraries recorded divisi sections before, Afflatus gives you total control over the sections while performing your music. Pressing the sustain pedal controls whether polyphonic lines should be played in divisi for an ultra realistic concert sound or with the whole section to achieve a thick lush tone suitable for modern film scores, TV and videogames alike. In combination with intelligent voice leading derived from the Polyphonic True Legato engine used in Freyja, Wotan, Árva and Rhodope, it is now easier than ever before to make string arrangements sound the way you want them to within your DAW.

FOR MAC USERS! Here is the trick:
- download the missing .xml from here*
- add the library in v5.6.0 (if you didn't already do it), as usual. Then close Kontakt. And in this case you don't have to trick snpid code!
- put the unzipped downloaded .xml file to Library/Application Support/Native Instruments/Service Center

And that's it! Enjoy!

If the library still doesn't appear on the left panel in Kontakt (5.6.8 or above), check in Library/Preferences if the file com.native-instruments.Afflatus Chapter I Strings.plist is there because in my test it was there after adding in 5.6.0, only the .xml file was not created by Kontakt.
What I did was copying the content between <?xml... and </ProductHints> from the .nicnt file to a blank .xml file with the same name.

Hi, thanks for the info but I'm struggling to make it work. I've added it in 5.6.0 but it does not appear. I couldn't download your zippy link, but I copied the code in a TextEdit file like you said. It wouldn't save as a .xml but I just removed the .rtf after it saved (which I'm guessing was correct) then replaced the file that was there in "Library/Application Support/Native Instruments/Service Center" It still wouldn't show up though. I do have the com.native-instruments.Afflatus Chapter I Strings.plist file in "Library/Preferences" but to be honest I'm not sure I understand the last part of what I need to do. Could you explain it to me please? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I would save the text in TextEdit as a simple text format (.txt) instead of rich text format (.rtf).
And to do so, you have to change the format in TextEdit, in the menu Format > Make Plain Text. Or just press Shift-Commant-T
Then you can safe the text file correctly.
If it still doesn't work, there is something else wrong that we have to find out. Better send me a PM because I don't come back to old release pages often.

Is there any option to use the strings WITHOUT VIBRATO? I searched on the net and cannot find any evidence that there's a non-vibrato setting. Thanks!

I can see how you are in love with this vibrato.
The only thing you can do is reducing modwheel (CC1) value that will make it sound a bit less vibrato-ish, in a lower volume, of course, and what is worse is that diminishing CC1 will reduce the boldness and the ambient of the sound which is wrong. They have scripted it in a way that two (or three) samples fade amongst them in the whole range 0-127 regarding this value of the modwheel.
Though I liked the way, how they have scripted divisi, it's almost like the golden standard solution in Audiobro's LASS. But this divisi isn't active in Basses.

So basically they have vibrato permanently on? Is that what you're saying? If so, that's a great shame.

Very grateful for this, looking forward to trying it out. Sad to see that Strezov has finally joined the .nicnt world

I've been out of the game for a while, what is the latest Kontakt player that is working and that I could use with this library? I have been wanting this library for a while. Much appreciated. Can someone send me a link to which Kontakt I could use with this? Thanks!

mac or pc?
This library requires 5.7.0 or above. On pc there exist 3 kind of Kontakts, No Install, Symlink and Portable.
For most users the best option is Portable, you can even have multiple versions of it (but you have to add libraries in each Portable, however this process is easy, you can add all of your libraries at once if they are under the same location (folder). So I recommend Portable if it's suitable for your environment (otherwise look for a SYMLINK version):
v6.0.3 Portable
or
v6.0.4 Portable

On mac there is only one kind of release (and especially there is no Portable unfortunately):
v6.0.3
or
v6.0.4

If you still wish to have a version 5 variant, try the 5.7.3. You can have both, v5 and v6 with no issues running parallel, as if those were different programs, except they share Service Center, that's why you can use the v5.6.0 (that is included in the install of the v6.0.4 release btw) to add libraries and use them in v6.

Does anyone know if this will work with Kontakt 5.6.0? If not, what version should I be looking for in here? Thanks.

Can someone please point me towards a version of Kontakt 5 that I would run this on? I have the 5.6.0 to add the library but I can seem to find a working Kontakt 5 to run this library. Also is it possible to keep my legit version of Kontakt 6 while running a k’d version of Kontakt 5?
