Cinesamples is proud to present CineWinds CORE Library, a next-generation orchestral woodwinds library recorded in the legendary SONY Pictures Scoring Stage in Los Angeles, and mixed by master engineer Dennis Sands (The Avengers, The Shawshank Redemption, Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, American Beauty). The CineWinds CORE Library covers the essentials of the orchestral woodwinds section, and as always, we focus on simplicity and unparalleled recording quality. Each instrument has been meticulously sampled to cover the nuance and detail of these, while maintaining ease of use for the composer. CineWinds CORE Library provides a strong foundation of expressive woodwinds for our composing templates.

ARTICULATIONS PATCHES
All of the Articulations Patches in CineWinds Core contain shorts of various lengths and dynamics, as well as sustains and trills. We recorded multiple repetitions per note and multiple dynamics.
Also, all of the mapping in the Articulations Patches is dynamic, so you can select from 5 intuitive presets in the user interface. A custom mapping grid is offered, for users who wish to customize the parameters beyond the presets. Every parameter and value is changeable, and nearly any combination is possible. Of course, if you are not a tweaker, you can stick with one of the 5 preset mappings (recommended).

TRUE LEGATO PATCHES
What is True Legato? True legato means that we sampled all of the intervalic leaps throughout the ranges, both upwards and downwards, for each solo woodwind. When you play a True Legato patch, it instantly analyses the intervals you play, then plays the appropriate transitional leap between the notes. The result is a smooth and realistic legato performance. For all instruments we did this at 3 dynamic levels, again using our dynamic morphing to blend seamlessly from piano to fortissimo. A key feature of our True Legato patches, is the Polyphonic Legato mode. This mode allows you to play lines of 2 or more notes simultaneously, while maintaining the appropriate transition samples between all notes. This is especially effective when playing chords that need to connect in a realistic way.
As with CineWinds CORE, we assembled a team of the finest musicians and crew — we found great comfort and amazing sounds at the SONY Scoring Stage, recorded and mixed by the unparalleled engineer Dennis Sands. The woodwinds in CineWinds PRO are covered with the same depth and nuance as the instruments in CineWinds CORE, and William Lyons gives us a series of ethnic woodwinds of such expressiveness and detail rarely heard in orchestral sample libraries. The PRO expansion features twice the content of the CORE library, and we hope you enjoy every bit of it.

Am I correct in assuming that this does not contain the 1.1 update?

allshallfade,

Thank you for your detailed assessment on the comparison between BWW and CineWinds. It's great to see posts like these and just wanted to say thanks.

You're very welcome, Pikahew. wink Thank you for letting me know you found it helpful- I'll keep posting more comparisons, musings, etc. as long as it seems like anyone is interested. As long as I'm not just rambling just to myself, it's nice to "talk shop".

I'm actually in the middle of a larger project, so I've been hopping onto AudioZ whenever I get sick of staring at tracks in Cubase... some of the drama here does make for a good distraction, I'll admit!

Let's see: you've been making new accounts and temp mailboxes just to annoy everyone for probably going on half a year at the very least because apparently you're a total loser with no life. People with things to do don't have time for that shit. You whine like a little girl on your Shitter feed for a few months straight where you're badmouthing...well pretty much everyone because nobody wants you around and now you want to tell me I'm the attention whore. You must be forgetting to take your meds in the morning. rofl

And then even put up a quote "silence is one of the most effective methods of communication." Yeah you should try it sometime. rofl

You are the epitome of the showroom dummy. Now go on Twitter and write about other people that actually do something worthwhile, the mark of the true poser and the only forum that would ever want to hear the infantile musings of human garbage.

Mouhahaha I would rather say they are decerebrated.
In fact, that is due to little thing. Just a small wire, which it's unsoldered in their tiny brain. Then they have the false contacts.

Thank you LV for sharing Cinewinds Core with us. And thanks allshallfade, man you confirmed my concerns. BWW is really what is needed for the Orchestral sound as most of the forums end up suggesting. I really like this new face of film scoring tools and world, the appreciation for woodwinds and John Williams' music. Also I didn't know Alex Wallbank abandoned making libraries. He is such an awesome dude, a great composer and CS2 is heavenly stuff. Best of luck with your project. Thanks Lv426 again for the upload!

funny that we don't hear Alexa anymore ;-)

"Alexa" was/is a temporal account from a resident just for trolling.

metalf,

Thanks. yes

I don't think Wallbank abandoned making libraries completely but he has said publicly not to hold our breath on getting anything remotely soon- unfortunately he was heavily discouraged by the piracy, especially when he does such deep educational discounts (I'm not saying that he should have let it get to him so much, just relaying the fact that he did). Doesn't seem like we'll see anything new from him for at least another year +, and CS2 was released a pretty decent amount of time ago to begin with.

Cool! Another massive wind core library has been posted! I am very interested to check this out, to milk the juice out of Kontakt.
I see there are some questions about what library is "the best". In my case, I pick and blend from various of libraries to get the kind of soundscape/soundimage I am looking for.
Sometimes a huge library like 16GB can have a few elements making the whole soundimage change. So yep, my advice is to pick and mix. Try out some samples here and some samples there.
Oh yeah, make sure you bypass the internal effects in the individual samplepacks, you know why...
Salute!

I think the alleged disappointment in sales CS2 faced could also be credited to LA Scoring Strings, a far more comprehensive strings library in the similar price range.

Sort of, but not really. LASS (Full) is not in the same price range- it costs about 1100 USD, Cinematic Strings 2 is 500 USD. Lass Lite (400 USD) is in direct competition with it, but it's generally regarded as only being 'decent', since it is missing most of Lass Full's big advantages compared to its competitors. Hollywood Strings was closer, since I think it's only around 700 or less now. Cinestrings will be a direct competitor when it releases though, priced exactly the same.

The string market is crowded overall though, granted. With East West's Hollywood Strings, CS2, and LASS alone the competition was fierce- now Cinestrings will be out on the 26th.

Seems like everyone has been focused on redoing the orchestral sections for the past 4 years, and now several companies have finished. Curious to see where things go next as an industry- 8Dio seems to be going for solo instruments with Claire plus their bombastic mega ensemble orchestra project with V8P, but no idea what East West and Cinesamples will move on to.

Oh, I didn't know the price difference was that big. I love CS2's sound though, its very tuned and controlled with both subtle expressiveness and monstrous rhythms, truly Cinematic. A full divisi styled Cinematic Strings would slay the competition!

Cinesamples are done for now imo, I think we won't be hearing from them very soon, same with Eastwest. 8Dio people make a lot of instruments but in my experience most of their products are generic and not innovative. Its the old Tonehammer mentality where they sample a buttload of instruments without truly understanding the instruments application and soul. The Adagio series is cool though, haven't used it but the demos are very convincing.

I wish Sample modeling would jump into the full orchestra arena, or at least do something to make their current brass libraries turn to full orchestral brass sections. It is possible even with the current form of the libraries, have you heard the Star Wars theme on VI control? that was a long time ago.

rmnl10, you don't need a nicnt for this. Just copy your files to the Winds Pro respectfully (if you have of it course) and use it. I have done this with Cine Brass, Winds, Perc... and Sable. Combining them into single libraries. That way I don't get lost in the process of what to load up. I see all the instruments/mic options.

Check This Out :)
