Rename Groups of Tracks and Clips in Pro Tools 12.8.2 with Batch Rename.
The new Batch Track and Batch Clip Renaming features in Pro Tools 12.8.2,
like many of the features in Pro Tools 12.8.2, comes directly from customer feedback and aims to answer real world workflow needs across many types of audio production, from Scoring stages to File naming in gaming and more.

This version could really be an update that has a concrete sense compared to 12.7.
The new Batch Track and Batch Clip Renaming add an important value required by many users and that we all have been waiting for too long.

...and it looks ugly. Last time I tried Protools was after buying a full HD System. I was totally disappointed after finding out that it was unreliable and buggy on Windows and PC .

Been using 12.5 HD here on PC for 3+ years 24/7 rock solid. It's way way way better than ANY other DAW I've used these past 20 years (inc cubase and studio one). It's not ugly, far from it (ok so it has one ugly windows title bar vs the mac version) but as a DAW it's far better on the eyes than S1 or cubase with their neon colours which I got sick of. PT instead looks very sharp, beautiful colours (if you choose them and not gaudy ones) and is very light on the eyes.

More importantly it's still the ONLY DAW that gets 'mixing' right, with the edit screen it keeps everything in context and focused on mixing. There is nothing 12.5HD+ can't do that I need it to do, and things like comit/track freeze is far more simple elegant and even 'fun' to use on PT than it was on the other DAWs which , esp s1, is proving to be more clunky that we thought when it first seemed to be great. PT has tons of key shortcuts and fast workflow, superb audio editing, world class automation systems (not toy ones like some other daws), pro control surfaces that destroy anything out there for S1 and work with HD.

Anyway, I'd love PT 2018 but am more than happy with 12.5 - the BEST gift this site ever gave me (and my music)

Studio One (even V4) has proved to be more unstable for me on windows (10 - fast system) than PT 12.5HD (from this site) that I've used solidly for years!

S1 has a number of bugs with bouncing, track alignment, and general locking up. PT runs solid at all times on a good system without any 'bad' plug-ins.

Yes please! (though ptobably a 2018.version now?)

12.5 HD user here (thanks Audio Utopia) it works like a dream for me for years (3?) and I get so much more done in it than I ever did in the (also good but nowhere near as good as PT) Studio One.

An updated version would be great of course, but 12.5 HD is already better than any other DAW out there no matter if those others have superfluous stuff that attracts the eye, the core mixing, recording and audio editing of PT 12.5 HD (inc automation, freezing, comit, bounce, HEAT, clip gain ENVS not just line, simplified overview of entire mix + all plugs in edit window + pro controller integration) is far superior to every other DAW. And yes I've tried them all and worked with S1, Cubase and Nuendo for years too.

+10 years PT user here.

Indeed Pro tools certainly might, just might be 'better' than S1 at this very moment. But after some months using S1 I can confirm that the engine/architecture behind it excels PT's. There are a couple functions (mainly editing and workflow related) that are objectively better in PT when compared to other DAWs, but if you don't mind that as much, it is killing PT in almost every other aspect.

In particular, plugin latency managing in S1 is almost perfect. Where as in PT it has always been such a headache (I use PT since 4.1, up to nowadays 12.5) also performance in S1 is unmatched. I'm FINALLY being able to load a bunch of Aqua instances and HO nebulas for example. Pro tools FEELS ancient as hell even on the most top notch studios I've worked at. It's always struggling with some stupid little nonsense.

My main job and what I make a living of is Films, features, docs, shorts, series and there I do feel comfortable using PT. Needless to say it is the absolute and unique standard in that portion of the industry. But my friend, for music, composing, arranging, mixing a band, jingles, sound design, etc S1 is by far making the whole experience much much rewarding.

I understand why people bash S1 for the "eye candy" (I also did at first) but it's not just candy. It works, and what's even better it helps you working through with less issues.

Yes, PT might still be 'better' but don't get surprised when another DAW comes up. And S1 is doing a heck of a job so far the way I see and feel it.

These two DAWs will stay with me, but one thing I'm almost certain is that PT I will leave to film related work and ultra fast editing needy projects, while S1 will be my main music and composing platform from now on.

My two cents.

With all due respect to Pro tools users, but Protools without the hardware is a serious lacking Daw. Notice every Protools pro studio user video has a $150,000 mixing console next to them!!
and another $100,000 in outboard gear. So Protools does nothing except mix the tracks. There is no difference between Reaper, Sonar, Protools, Studio One, Pyramix, Samplitude, Cubase, Nuendo NOTHING!! when you play back those tracks. Without the hardware integration or $150,000 mixing console your tracks will sound like the interface they were recorded through regardless of the Daw. Pro tools gets a pro Rap when it is actually years behind everything else, I mean bouncing tracks is a new feature? Freezing tracks? Real time render? . When you have a $300,000 studio in gear any damn Daw will mix your projects, Pro tools is just used more often due to the integrated HD hardware ( good luck buying it off the shelf!!)

ProTools is a ridiculous name that has no bearing on the actual product. This is why every PRO studio that uses Pro Tools does not have a $500 mixer and interface as Protools would give you what you put in nothing more. As far as Plugins AAX is a joke, just for Avid to milk more idiots.

Reaper in my opinion is one of the best Daw's out there, we had plugin sidechaining on VST2 plugins for years before the move to VST3!! This was not possible in any other Daw because they hide the Mixing engine from the user and Reaper has it's mixing engine open with the VST plugin pins exposed.

I use it because it simply does things that no other daw can do right now.
Reapers mixing engine is like a real Mixer all the ports exposed. How many Daw's out there expose the VST plugin pins? ZERO!.

When you need to record on cheaper hardware or cheaper mixer setups Reaper is the best, small no huge downloads, supports all plugins, all tracks can be anything, JS plugins scripting, rearoute, reainsert, reasend.

I can run 2 instances of Reaper and send audio back and forth between them using the loopback network function in Reaper.

I was one of the first to hate Reaper, then hit a brick wall with some custom setup and Reaper was the answer.

I don't hate Protools just the hype people give this overbloated Daw that installs so much crap on your system.
