Hey everyone, I've got a new EQ plugin for you all!
I call it the Multi-Q - three EQ models in one plugin, a graphic, parametric, and tube EQ. You can use all three EQ's at once if you wish or just one band. The filters turn off at 0 dB of gain to save precious CPU, so don't be afraid to load it up to just use one band. Multi-Q also has low and high pass filters, a drive for tube distortion, mid/side processing, oversampling, and a phase inversion. Use the 3 buttons on the right side to switch EQ UI focus and have at it!

Representing Sound Notes on the Ontology of Recorded Musical Communications by Jay Hodgson and Steve MacLeod EPUB screenshot
2014 | Wilfrid Laurier University Press | ISBN: 9781554589708 | 36.4 MB | 114 Pages | EPUB
Representing Sound elucidates the base technical ontology, the machine essence, of every recorded musical communication. In so doing, it suggests the broad contours of an unprecedented theoretical basis for considering recording practice that posits no fundamental relationship between it and live performance. Representing Sound thus complicates common conceptions of sound to include different ontological states. This seemingly simple notion–that the acoustic phenomena we encounter in concert are, by nature, different from those we encounter when we listen to records–should have profound consequences for the way everyone, from musicologists to rock stars, considers recording practice.

2017 | Taylor & Francis | ISBN: 9781315090450 | 11.9 MB | 628 Pages | EPUB
This collection provides readers with a diverse and contemporary overview of research in the field. Drawing upon scholarly writing from a range of disciplines and approaches, it provides case studies from a wide range of 'non Western' musical contexts. In so doing the volume attends to the central themes that have emerged in this area of popular music studies; cultural politics, identity and the role of technology. This collection does not seek to establish a new theoretical paradigm, but being primarily aimed at researchers and students, offers as comprehensive a view of the research that has been carried out over the last few decades as possible, given the global scope of the subject.

The Music of Herbert Howells screenshot
Phillip A. Cooke, David Maw | 2014 | ISBN: 1843838796 | English | 382 pages | PDF | 10 MB
Herbert Howells (1892-1983) was a prodigiously gifted musician and the favourite student of the notoriously hard-to-please Sir Charles Villiers Stanford. Throughout his long life, he was one of the country's most prominent composers, writing extensively in all genres except the symphony and opera. Yet today he is known mostly for his church music, and there is as yet relatively little serious study of his work. This book is the first large-scale study of Howells's music, affording both detailed consideration of individual works and a broad survey of general characteristics and issues.

Hey everyone, I've got a new plugin for you! It's a harmonic exciter!
Use this to brighten up your signal. Add in odd or even harmonics, or even both! Then, use the "amount" knob to drive the harmonic distortion harder. The "range" knob shows you which frequencies are being excited, so everything above the frequency selected. The middle graph shows you what is happening to your signal as if it were a sine wave, so that you can see the even vs odd harmonics in the signal.

Jazz Transatlantic Volume II Jazz Derivatives and Developments in Twentieth-Century Africa by Gerhard Kubik EPUB screenshot
2017 | University Press of Mississippi | ISBN: 9781496806086 | 10.9 MB | 294 Pages | EPUB
In Jazz Transatlantic, Volume II, renowned scholar Gerhard Kubik extends and expands the epic exploration he began in Jazz Transatlantic, Volume I. This second volume amplifies how musicians influenced by swing, bebop, and post-bop in Africa from the end of World War II into the 1970s were interacting with each other and re-creating jazz. Much like the first volume, Kubik examines musicians who adopted a wide variety of jazz genres, from the jive and swing of the 1940s to modern jazz. Drawing on personal encounters with the artists, as well as his extensive field diaries and engagement with colleagues, Kubik looks at the individual histories of musicians and composers within jazz in Africa. He pays tribute to their lives and work in a wider social context.

Jazz Transatlantic Volume I The African Undercurrent in Twentieth-Century Jazz Culture by Gerhard Kubik EPUB screenshot
2017 | University Press of Mississippi | ISBN: 9781628462302 | 13.8 MB | 464 Pages | EPUB
In Jazz Transatlantic, Volume I, renowned scholar Gerhard Kubik takes the reader across the Atlantic from Africa to the Americas and then back in pursuit of the music we call jazz. This first volume explores the term itself and how jazz has been defined and redefined. It also celebrates the phenomena of jazz performance and uncovers hidden gems of jazz history. The volume offers insights gathered during Kubik's extensive field work and based on in-depth interviews with jazz musicians around the Atlantic world. Languages, world views, beliefs, experiences, attitudes, and commodities all play a role. Kubik reveals what is most important--the expertise of individual musical innovators on both sides of the Atlantic, and hidden relationships in their thoughts.
