The genre is dead :(
It was a decade , since I realized(after 15 years of organizing festivals, open-airs and partying,), that there's nothing more to expect from it. Actually, I realized it much earlier. Before that "escape", I attended open-airs for several years, but only if I played there.
Maybe I'm being overly snobbish, but I've always been annoyed by the outer wrapper of the psy movement as a cultural phenomenon...
Pseudo-"hippie", shouts about PLUR and, at the same time, for example, a fight over a dispute about a line-up (a drunken Ocelot I don't remember with whom specifically).
Since the early 00s, I preferred the sound of Demon Tea Rec., early South African scene, Parvati. But most of all I gravitated to the sound of Midimiliz(Spirallanz), X-Dream, The Delta & co,, Boshke Beats(!!!) I was told that this is a dead-end branch.)
Well, what we see is that Midimiliz, constantly evolving, created Extrawelt and deservedly took the place of the luminaries of the electronic scene outside of one specific genre. But most of the "artists" continue to rivet generic psy-trance, the same as 15 years ago.
There were a lot of interesting things at the turn of the 2000s, for example, psy-breaks was born in 97-99 and died soon after, I recommend to anyone who doesn't know what I'm talking about to listen to VA - Iconoblast (1997) from Symbiosis Records.
Yes, there were and still are original musicians, for example Vasya Psychovsky, Nikita Tselovalnikov (Penta) or some representatives of Twisted Forest Sound. Psy-prog has turned from a deep minimalistic hypnotism into chewing gum. And the unique sound (no kidding) of Sensient has become the same type of mainstream. It has come to the point that the zenonesque sub-genre is now called psy-techno.)))
I do not claim that my opinion is the ultimate truth. But I see it that way. Cheers!

Anyway, the fact you've listened to that kind of music for 20 years doesn't mean stuff like psy-tech has no right to exist today.

Music is constantly evolving, and so are ears.

Of course not! Don't get me wrong.
I am sad that the musical style, which, at one time, thanks to a creative and experimental approach that went beyond the patterns of old GOA and had all the prerequisites for development, slipped into the mainstream, even more alternative sub-genres, for the most part, came to the same. Not the best transformation with trance happened. It's as if EBM has turned into EDM. But it has the right to live, just like any other music. Yes, I am annoyed by all this pseudo-religiously mystical crap. I respect representatives of all religions, but fluorescent Ganesha on T-shirts is vulgarit. Or this "hat", for example, which resembles me the story of the famous portrait of Guevara(I'm not a fan of him, but the analogy is clear) by Alberto Korda , monetized by a society that he despised).
I'm grumbling too much, and I probably shouldn't have written all this, my ego mistakenly(I suppose), decided that it might be interesting to someone.

P.S. don't understand why they call zenonesque psy-prog trace psy-techno. I attribute this only to the fact that techno has regained popularity over the past 10 years) Which is confirmed by the release of courses from Zenon musicians) I love ZR too, by the way.
Here is the real Psy-techno & the second example
And this is an example of the former psy-trance diversity)

Could be... my task is to dive in and perhaps to come out with new ideas for other genres. I like masterclasses from genres, I'm not very familiar with ;-)
