Sonic Academy Dark Techno 2020 with Harvey McKay TUTORiAL-SYNTHiC4TE screenshot
SYNTHiC4TE | July 10 2020 | 1.7 GB
This week we proudly welcome back Harvey McKay for another 'How To Make' techno tutorial and again he's making it Dark!

With its pounding driving kick and filthy gritty synth line created in Repro, this is one for the warehouse. A sinister late-night track for all you techno headz out there.

Harvey keeps it simple building the clips up in Ableton's session view before arranging them out, recording them live so they can be tweaked further in the arrangement page and then mixing down and fine-tuning.

This course is all about getting great sounds at source level that really pay off when it comes to workflow and getting results fast.

Check it out.

Some of these courses sound tempting on paper then you hear the trailer/demo and yikes! (No disrespect to uploader Horsemen)

Liking the finished product is subjective, although I tend to agree. Its good to watch someone's workflow, often I pick up some good ideas.

I'm with you, Halifax. Not a huge fan of the track -- but I'm always a huge fan of watching someone else's workflow. I've got to say, there are guys on YouTube doing free tutorials who make much better techno, but they just haven't got the teaching aspect down. They work too fast and speak in funny German or Eastern European accents, and you're watching in the tiny YouTube window which all makes it really hard to follow along.

Sonic Academy don't make the greatest tracks, but they've got the teaching aspect of it nailed down.
