Sonic Academy How To Make Psy Trance 2019 with Shadow Chronicles TUTORiAL-SYNTHiC4TE screenshot
SYNTHiC4TE | Feb 03 2019 | 7.4 GB
Protoculture's back with us once again this week and this time Nate's bringing us an all-new 'How To Make' course under his alias Shadow Chronicles for a massive Psy Trance beast created from start to finish!

This is a 'no holds barred' monster of a course for the more advanced producers out there, where Nate brings out some of the big guns of his plugin arsenal to produce an epic synth-laden track worthy of its title 'In the Company of Giants'. Having said that, most DAW's will have equivalent stock plugins that can recreate the sounds produced, so whatever your budget you can follow along.

In this 7 hour course, we first lay down the kick and bass backbone before adding ambient textures and effects, driving percussion and awesome layered lead lines. As the track and CPU level grows we commit to rendering to audio and organise the different elements before arranging with extensive use of automation to build up to drops and an arpeggiated breakdown creating a track full of texture, risers, sweeps and impacts. Always tweaking and editing to improve, we finish off with a mixdown and then export the stems to complete a master and finalise the track.

Nate's dedication to each and every element of this tune is showcased throughout these videos and the end result proves it's worth every second.

A truly inspiring course that will give you the professional insight and techniques to raise your game to the next level!

This one is different and he shows off Plugin alliance's new vst synth Thorn and a lot of other PA plugins. Many are marked as NFR, so it appears he doesn't own all of them. I don't like when these videos are used as marketing tools, I want to know what he really owns and uses in terms of HIS preferred plugins, not what PA is asking him to use. Props to this release however, it's very in depth.

I recall seeing it in vid 2, kick and bass. and again in a following video towards the end. I wasn't too impressed with the tone, but it was a quick basic patch. Kinda reminded me of avenger type sound.

There's one thing that has changed, these last 5-6 years.

1st- several years ago, it was really hard to find cubase tutorials on YouTube, excepting a few made with old versions. There are basically no cubase 6.. cubase 7... videos, after cubase 8, suddenly there were a lot of people posting tutorial, videos, then there were the Greg Ondo 'hangouts', 3 hours long. Today, it is easy to find hundreds, if not thousands of cubase videos.

2nd change- 3-4-5+ years ago, almost ALL tutorials were done using Logic, then, there were a bunch of ableton Live videos...a few Fl studio ones... but cubase.... it was super rare..only a few selected artists were using it. Sonic academy, Udemy people, it was all about Mac and Logic...

And suddenly, lots of people started making tutorials in cubase. Today, many tutorials released in az, are using Cubase.

It's crazy, how the situation has evolved. Looks like a lot of people has tried cubase... and has adopted it.

With over 2500 keyboard shortcuts, basically, a user wants to do something, even crazy: there is a function to achieve it.
For ex, a guy that is working with midi, in protools.. and suddenly he is using cubase and all the midi features. ..he won't be returning to PTs for midi, anymore.

I'm not praising cubase. Just analysing the trend.
Still today, i watch greg ondo's tutorials, and very often, i learn a new thing i thought was impossible: a super complicated action, that would take 30 minutes, is done in 0.1 seconds.
When we start using cubase, and realize there are very few things that can't done, it is hard to go back to other daws.

Just saying... :)
