Sonic Academy How To Make Garage House with Kissy Sell Out TUTORiAL-SYNTHiC4TE screenshot
SYNTHiC4TE | July 23 2017 | 3.56 GB
Strap yourself in for this one because its a bit of a rollercoaster ride!! Sonic Academy proudly welcomes Kissy Sell Out to take us on a whirlwind tour of his amazing production mind. Kissy continues to be one of the most unique players in the British dance music scene having made his name by mixing records for Gwen Stefani, Calvin Harris, Mark Ronson, Sugababes, Groove Armada, Human League and Chromeo His name exploded across the global festival circuit with his frantic and electrifying DJ style, leading him onto hosting one of the most popular specialists shows in BBC Radio 1 history, the “Kissy Klub”- where he helped break acts such as Diplo, Dillion Frances, Eats Everything, Huxley and Zeds Dead.

Here, he takes us through a V.I.P remix of his massive club banger 'Sweet Toys' Very much aimed at those with good basic production knowledge this course moves at a frantic pace but is an amazing insight into unique and brilliant production mind. Starting with building drum loops, adding in the kick and bassline, we then move on to create some wicked DIY FX's and finally arranging out and creating the breakdown with epic strings and ass shaking subs. All this from a part-time astrophysicist who has debated with Stephan Fry at Cambridge University!

This is a unique course from a unique producer.

It's a different take on workflow, IMHO it worth viewing regardless if one likes the song or not and regardless if one will adopt parts of that workflow. It's always a good thing to know the options and this tutorial is something different. Not saying good or bad (I watched the first 3 videos at the moment) but it's definitely diferent.

I get the workflow thing but what's disappointing for me is the use of ready made samples.
I'm not saying don't use them, I just want to see more sound design techniques. Someone has made those samples from scratch after all.
Effectively, the only thing this guy is showing us is how fast he is at assembling a bunch of pre-made samples.
Having said that, I'm basing my judgement solely on viewing the teaser video here.
Perhaps someone else has watched the entire tutorial and could enlighten us?

I'm very surprised how sonic academy's guests have been certified. I don't remember even a good track to acknowledge their licenses.

Maybe certified just technically not artistically.

Those levels clipping insanely on the master input though... You can add all the limiters you want at the end, it won't make a difference if the signal's already corrupted.

Yeah, doesn't look like he's heard of K-Metering.
Perhaps because he's never had any of his tunes mastered by a professional.
