Sonic Academy brings you an exclusive ‘How To Use Maschine Jam’ with the production master that is Echo Sound Works. Here he shows us how this brand new product from Native Instruments Maschine camp can be used in the production of your tracks and integrated into your workflow.

This isn’t a look at every knob on the controller, but rather, a how it would be used in the real world by a producer wanting the shortest route from inspiration the reality. ESW shows us how you can sequence and arrange on the fly with an 8x8 multicolor click-pad matrix, shape and perform sounds in inspiring ways using eight dual-touch Smart Strips and bring it all together with the power of the included MASCHINE software.

Building a wicked future bass track, we look at the different input modes, and end with a live performance using the touch strips and laying out a basic arrangement using the pads.

A very poor tutorial regarding use of the Maschine Jam, which is an excellent piece of equipment. This guy uses the mouse a LOT when interfacing with the Maschine 2 software, instead of focussing on the functionality of the actual JAM hardware itself to do so, which is the whole point of using/owning it in the first place. He skips around and misses out on explaining what he is doing "inbetween" videos too. He tries to cover using Maschine software to drag audio into Logic, but that fails too as he is basically trying to cover way too much and you could achieve just the same result more easily working within the Maschine 2 software anyway to begin with. Just falling down on all points. Brave tutorial attempt, but I wouldn't bother downloading it to be fair. I've already deleted it!
