"J. E. Peters" is one of the most interesting methods I've seen in audioz in recent years, he addresses the whole musical complex without the objective of being concise.
So, if you understand about musical composition, you'll play your instrument better, you'll feel more confident and will not be afraid of anything else.

The author "J. E. Peters" managed to do in a few examples, the whole synthesis of musical composition, I spent years and went to four different countries to get what he sums up in some sheets.

If you spend 3 days a week withing an 1 hour long to read each chapter, turn-off TV and i-Phone, in a few weeks will dominate the subject.
Since you understand each chapter, do not try to memorize, just understand the reason of the chapter, when the logic works and are sure you understood, go to the next chapter, without trying to memorize things.
The greatest difficulty of all in music, is to sit 6 hours a day to practise your instrument or voice. Of course, studying the rhythmic part of the music involves a little more dedication, since it is something mechanical of daily study, and without the study of rhythm that should be a priority, nobody can read, play or sing, when these rhythm trainings in schools serve to solve the reading as fast as possible, without snapping the fingers or kicking the feet to count the rhythm.

My tip is:
The fact that you can understand how music composition works, does not mean that you will be a composer, or a good composer, you must be aware that to conduct an orchestra you'll need to know all this, or to make more elaborate arrangements.
In order to be a composer, you only have to understand that any little motif or theme can be transformed into a symphony, just listen to Beethoven's 5th, that has the same motif throughout the entire first movement, the rest is travelling around modulation, anticipation, retardation, embellishments (that includes slides on any string instruments) and do lots of variations, and don't foget to create different volumes, like increasing and reducing the volumes of the parts with the dynamics signals.
The most difficult thing from musicians is to read the dynamics signs of the score, if you respected each signal, the music would already be good.
