IK Multimedia's AmpliTube software has forged a formidable reputation over the years for offering a comprehensive array of digital tone-tweaking tools, but AmpliTube 5 promises to eclipse its predecessors with with a newly designed GUI that is fully scalable and supports Retina displays, an enhanced user experience, and more gear. A lot more gear.

All in, there are 129 new models, making for a total of over 400 gear models in the AmpliTube 5 MAX version, plus cabinet section that has been retooled using IK Multimedia's new Volumetric Impulse Response (VIR) technology, improving power amp/speaker cab interactions for more authentic tone and feel.

The VIR tech was developed by measuring 600 IRs per speaker of every existing and new cabinet model, making for 143,000 IRs in total, allowing for a three-dimensional grid interface for mic placement. You can also now import and load your own IRs.

Also new to AmpliTube 5, we've got an expanded, fully configurable signal chain that allows you to deploy a wet-dry-wet configuration and experiment with more complicated setups – series and parallel routing? Fill your boots.

Altogether, the signal chain can accommodate up to 57 simultaneous models of stomps, racks, amps and cabs.

To help you make sense of all this sonically and get the most out of the 8-track DAW, there is a newly designed mixer in the studio section. Here, you can put the finishing touch to your tracks.

Blend cab and mic sounds, add the DI signal and use its panning, levels, busses, levels and 19 onboard effects – some culled from T-RackS 5 – to add some pro-studio sheen.

Elsewhere, the AmpliTube Custom Shop has been redesigned, and the software is designed to work seamlessly with IK Multimedia's AXE I/O and AXE I/O Solo interfaces.

I just copared 4 & 5 with same presets. I liked 4 before, but 5 is a complete different animal and sounds waaaaay better.

Thanks again for this amazing release. I've had a good play around with the various amp/speaker combinations (as well as the new v5 amps) and I do think it' s a major step up from Amplitube 4. I haven't delved into the new speaker and IR technology that much as yet, but so far it's sounding very good! Thanks again to XORAX and all involved. :-)

Hello,
anyone got have any issues with presets not showing in any platform(exe,vst,aax)?
i had this similar problem with amplitube 4 last time, which was showing the messages with "can't open the presets database" .
but this time it just dosen't show any presets without warning messages.

this is my screenshot:

Thank you to all involved with this release.
It is indeed a great and worth upgrade of A4.
There is a small "nag" with my system (Win10).. all Amplitube 5 presets are shown correctly but many of those I created myself in Amplit.4, copied/pasted to A5 presets folder, don't show up at all. Some do, some don't.
I even tried to change the "at4p" ending to "at5p" which only worked with a couple. Very strange.

The only thing different are the IR's. If you (like everyone should) already used IR's from Ownhammer, etc, with amp sims, than you won't notice any diference from Amplitube 4 to 5.

They have rebuild also all the amps. Also you you can get bleeding in your mics from other speakers. (the bottom speakers now have a different responce than the top ones...) Thats a "plus" from me. Way more customizable tone
But anyway, whatever works best for anyone is the right way !!! Sometimes i need just an IR and i m good to go... Other times i need a very specific tone.
I even used just the cab part with an amp from TH-U rigplayer
And one more thing, i really like the bass amps/cabs of Amplitube 5. Check them out !

Thank you for sharing. I just did a quick test of win 10 and studio one, and there the big slap Ik did a sick job on this version. Really a big leap forward from version 4. I love the sound that comes out of it. I don't talk about cab or amp fidelity because I'm not competent enough to talk about it but my ears like it to appreciate it. For all the vst I've tried so far he's in the lead.

I downloaded the visual C++ redistributables x64 & x86. Installed and rebooted. I still get a black blank screen when I add amplitube 5 plugin. I get this both in Studio One 5 and Ableton 10. Amplitube 4 works. I'm at a loss. I don't know what else to try.

From reading the Amplitube forums I see the black screen is a common problem. It probably is related to the graphics card, mine is old and doesn't get drivers since 2016. Maybe it's OpenGL or something like that. I'm going to wait to see what kind of solution is proposed. I prefer not to upgrade my computer just yet, it works fine for everything else.

Ooops... do I have to remove my "legal" Amplitube V4 or can I run this in parallel ?
Possible to have both simultaneously ?
Are ALL the amps, pedals, cabs etc included here (size let's me hope that ALL is included) ?
... I mean are all the custom shop amps, cabinets etc.. all included here ?

PS: the reason I ask is cuz I have some custom shop amps, like SOLDANO, FENDER... but would be so nice to have more amps and especially more cabinets, pedals and extras... many of the presets don't work in V4 because the sh*t is not included :-(
So I am dreaming, hoping that maybe this V5 2.6GB finally includes everything....

I use Helix live and when recording, and have to say without an IR, compared to AmpliTube, I think the presets sound awful. I have been so impressed with V4 presets and sometimes when recording I have just found I can pull an AmpliTube preset and get what I want, so do think V5 is even better? Have you compared to Helix??

What a nice surprise, seeing my favorite amp sim being available here so quickly!
Installs and runs just fine, eats only a little more CPU than version 4 and sound different, better I would say.
Sadly I can't plug in my real guitar at the moment but I bet it will be super fun to play when I do. Merry Christmas!

Big thanks for this long awaited and hyped piece of software. Seems to be some issues with the standalone exe. As mentioned on IK forums. I have sountd but cracks like hell. (no... not audio issue on my porky win10 pc) VST and VST3 seems to be alright. Lots to explore. Thanks for sharing!

I had no problem installing it. Sounds amazing out of the box, but when I click on a preset, the sound changes, but it will not highlight that preset. If I click on anything, I have to disable my interface. then enable to get it to show where I clicked. The same happens with the stand alone. Down and up arrow buttons will change presets, but not show the change. Can't scroll either. Any ideas?
