IK Multimedia's AmpliTube software has forged a formidable reputation over the years for offering a comprehensive array of digital tone-tweaking tools, but AmpliTube 5 promises to eclipse its predecessors with with a newly designed GUI that is fully scalable and supports Retina displays, an enhanced user experience, and more gear. A lot more gear.

All in, there are 129 new models, making for a total of over 400 gear models in the AmpliTube 5 MAX version, plus cabinet section that has been retooled using IK Multimedia's new Volumetric Impulse Response (VIR) technology, improving power amp/speaker cab interactions for more authentic tone and feel.

The VIR tech was developed by measuring 600 IRs per speaker of every existing and new cabinet model, making for 143,000 IRs in total, allowing for a three-dimensional grid interface for mic placement. You can also now import and load your own IRs.

Also new to AmpliTube 5, we've got an expanded, fully configurable signal chain that allows you to deploy a wet-dry-wet configuration and experiment with more complicated setups – series and parallel routing? Fill your boots.

Altogether, the signal chain can accommodate up to 57 simultaneous models of stomps, racks, amps and cabs.

To help you make sense of all this sonically and get the most out of the 8-track DAW, there is a newly designed mixer in the studio section. Here, you can put the finishing touch to your tracks.

Blend cab and mic sounds, add the DI signal and use its panning, levels, busses, levels and 19 onboard effects – some culled from T-RackS 5 – to add some pro-studio sheen.

Elsewhere, the AmpliTube Custom Shop has been redesigned, and the software is designed to work seamlessly with IK Multimedia's AXE I/O and AXE I/O Solo interfaces.

Hell yeah! Amplitube 4 is my fav, I can't wait to try this.

EDIT: well after browsing a few presets, I'm really impressed by how great it sounds (the first preset is insta-judas priest, awesome), it's kind of a CPU hog though... with just one audio track in Ableton, it leeches 40-50% of the CPU.

thanks, I've been quite bored lately and pretty well fed up with the F***ing scamdemic and it's restrictions, but it does gives me the time to try out new releases, I've tried BIAS FX 2.2.2.5090 Rev2 a few days ago and l was planning to try Guitar Rig 6 Pro v6.1.1, but now AmpliTube 5 v5.01 and TH-U Full v1.2.5 were upped today so I guess my Christmas holidays won't be boring now, I'll be able to immerse myself into amplifier paradise well into the new year. I'm a die hard Bias FX user but love trying out other amp sims to see how they compare.

I play these with my Edirol Fa101 interface as like FX units running on an old MSI laptop.

That is it
These amp sims do not add any extra crazy cpu processing and the internal latency is minimal.

I don't think you're gonna get burned -- it's a huge shame that software and hardware have to progress as fast as they do, sometimes, artificially, to make you buy new software and hardware instead of hanging on to things that wok just fine. Companies that made great software (Arboretum, Opcode, TCElectronics' software division, etc.) have either gone under or just stopped making software because they couldn't keep up. If you have a way to preserve older software and hardware that works the way you want them to, that's pretty awesome.

Also, I still have all my Amplitube 2 presets on Amplitube 4, and while you'd think they'd sound better in Amplitube 4, there's just something off about 'em. You were wise to hold on to the OG software. It makes me wonder how different these new v5 versions of the older presets will sound.

I still own a JAMVOX unit with the v1.0, 2.0, 2.01 and 3.03 of the software, I haven't used it in quite a few years because of a latency issue it had with Jam Origin MIDI GUITAR 1.0 which I used at the time. Perhaps it's time to try it out with newer ASIO drivers and MIDI Guitar 2.

It's working fine on my reaper. I've had the same issue with other plugins before & reinstalling all the Microsoft visual CC+ redistributables [both 32bit & 64bit ] worked for me.

For me standalone works fine but when trying the vst3 version in Reaper I just get a "Amplitube 5 is not authorized. You have 7 days left" :S Anyone else that gets this?

Did you do anything to get it to work in Studio One? I'm using Studio One 5 and Amplitube 5 just has a blank window. Amplitube 4 works. Standalone Amplitube 5 works.

all amps are rewritten.this new version sounds completely different than ver4- i never liked amplitube before the amp touch-response wasnt there. this nails it like never before, i'd say it's up there with neural dsp ampsims, so yeah this is a game changer in realism

You wouldn't happen to know if it allows you to import Amplitube 4 presets? As in, older Amplitube (1+2) presets that were previously imported into v3, then into v4?

Yeah you can, you just gotta put them in the amplitube 5 presets folder in your documents. Full warning they're probably not gonna sound the same though
