my home studio use to be my theater so it wasnt bad acoustically. ripped up the carpet and installed wood floors, put a pair of barefoot mm45's in the sweetspot had Glenn (owner of gik) shoot the room, we added some diffusers, 6inch traps and a huge cloud, damn good monitoring room now
Don't often do much tracking at home anymore but there's an rnp, plenty of pendulum, aurora, and mercury gear in the home studio along with a few great mics just incase...if its not paying enough im not driving 35 miles to the studio, what can i say im getting lazy and probably need a driver or tesla b/c im getting lazy LMFAO
there are some really good plugins but when you've been using great hardware for 15+ years you just look at new plugins as they are, "tools to help you get the final result" like soothe, been using it since i first saw it at namm in 2017 and became a beta tester, never had to buy it, they gave it to me along with other developers including ssl when i got my ssl aws900 in 2009. i truly wanted the neve genesys black but never bought one, talked to Dave over at PAD(if you know you know) he still trying to pressure me into buying it but i dont need it anymore. even the aws900 only get used maybe 12-14ch if that these days

i have kids and everything cost more, but i didnt work my ass off and be screwed in this industry a few times, quit and sell a lot to only make my way back after having 3 years off to "BUY" everything i want to "TRY" then never use it...takes me back to the tdm days of spending a ton of money to keep up with digidesign/avid now hardly even load pro tools.
ppl see waves plugins going $29 these days don't understand having to bust open a credit card to spend 7,8,10k on waves plugins, only to still deal with wup then things switching up on you after spending a ton of money on pro control, then d command controllers, tdm cards, hd cards then hdx cards, 96i/o and192i/o interfaces with a sync i/o... all that stuff is just sitting in my basement collecting dust, especially the pro control lol.
have you ever heard of the waves police? there where ppl that would book a session with you only to see if you were using licensed software vs pirated and waves would sue you...thats when i was scared and bought every plugin b/c i knew someone in 07 that was sued by waves for 90K for having a pirated platinum bundle and running a commercial studio. didnt have time for that crap, thats damn near a new escalade right now vs my 2019 and id love the 2023 but kids need cars in the next few months

theres 2 nice studios worth of stuff im more than willing to part with in the basement i just haven't had time to separate stuff and most of that stuff no one cares about anymore...theres some decent monitors(event, tannoy, jbl, genelec), old interfaces(avid, echo, apogee rosetta's), pres, eqs, comps, lexicon reverbs missing knobs, even older than my old tdm stuff a mackie d8b lol*shouldve been given that damn thing and giant power supply away too much stuff

my son found some interest in some production and mixing but at the same time why bother with old stuff when i can just buy him a discrete4 with a duo mic and send him to his room...
i bought him a mpc x 2 weeks ago but he hasn't presented me with anything yet, he asked if he could get it, i told him maintain good grades and we'll see. he didnt even know that same night i went on sweetwater and ordered him one on my sweetwater card... he has a 49 key komplete controller and my old macbook pro m1 and now that he's about to get his permit he wants a 17 tahoe or tundra, i have more important things to spend money on vs a plugin i'll never use but when i come across stuff that i know i can use i go ahead and get it and support the developer unless i have a serious issue with them.

i bought every single acoustica plugin, every single uad plugin with 2 octos, everything from softube and a few others. spent more money on plugins in the last year than what i was paid when i was 18 working...
and btw, try cherry from acoustica... i kind of like it more than scarlet5, has an openness without any harshness similar to the 2077 really interesting especially for a plugin to have that kind of sound

one thing a lot of ppl need to understand as well is there are too many incorrect schematics of sontecs floating around. when this plugin came out last october, i tried for about a week and felt it was ok... this week hearing it again it just isnt for me and my klontz will remain on my mixbuss and be reprinted though the hilo b/c its the sound i want.. just a tool regardless
