Digital "laws" can't get ITB sound close to original AC voltage realm. ITB mix will always be flat, 2D and smudged. Nothing can beat real analog low-mids!

If you're accustomed to the way analog gear distorts certain aspects of the signal then sure you'll prefer it over a bad emulation. But there's good emulations too; Pulsar Massive is great. Lindell TE-100 is too. Black Rooster Audio, Fuse Audio Lab & NEOLD's stuff is near indistinguishable from real hardware (Reimund Dratwa is a beast)

Never touched such an unit. Hows the "noise floor" on this unit ? I heard it's barley perceptible and "surgical" in his style without THD. What differentiates it with a good digital EQ then ? I'm genuinely curious.

I like the IK more compared to this. I don't like the whole vibe of this EQ for some reason. It's hard when it comes to this type of plugin, what we hear is totally different from each other. I detect some inharmonic weird vibe by the harmonic generated. You can test it on a bone dry acoustic guitar recording if you have one. Usually acoustic guitar accept 3rd order heavy (solid-state style) saturation nicely, LA3A etc, but this plugin harmonic making it weird and sound off to me. It's subtle, but the track will sound better harmonically when you remove the plugin. The IK does the opposite. Do a test yourself and see what you think about it. I use Acoustic guitar because I know the guitar really really well, plus it's easier on acoustic guitar because of natural timbre of it, so I know if it starting to sound weird, you probably need some track that you know very well to hear the harmonics of the plugin.

unfortunately i have to agree vs my 432. my 432 sounds a lot more lively vs this plugin and considering it was done with metric halo i expected a bit more but at the same time i didnt b/c as much as ive used ch.strip over the years, i used it b/c it was clean and didnt add anything to the sound.. well thats not why id reach to a 432... mine still lives on my mixbus and i print through it and many other hardware pieces through my dangerous liaison and into my lynx hilo when doing masters or even some mixes. just finished printing 11 songs and send them off to client. now time to bbq

that's the vintage unit price, there's a lot of clones and even DIY kit at around USD2k for the 432, the 250 model has DIY kit below USD1k.

ppl dont realize there are damn good kits out there and before the internet went so pc on gearslutz(before it was gearspace for the pc crowd) we had tantan and igor who made amazing equipment. ive had my 33609 from them since 2010

i received 432/435 oct/nov2014, it was made by simon klontz. recently i just received a my mastering console as well

this plugin doesnt sound bad, but its not even reminiscent to a sontec, nor on par with my req2.2 (buzz audio) that i had to use when my 435 was in the shop getting opamps swapped
think the best plugin is gonna be scarlet4 and the antelope plugin

simon makes flat out amazing stuff, my redd47 pres are flat out amazing

if you want to buy the cheapest closest thing, get one from CAG or look into the buzz at least. its not trying to be a 432 but its damn nice and you should be able to find a 2nd hand one under 2k easy.

(And A was also the plugin but going through the same converters that he hardware was going through)
