quote by DashSlapActually Pro Tools is the BEST DAW for what a DAW is meant to do. I've used them all and gone back to PT HD (ultimate). Nothing works as well for recording/editing/mixing. You can cry all you like about your pretty toy DAWs being better because they have 10000 features (gimmicks) but the fact is they ALL suck in certain areas - cubase = bloated, logic = terrible to mix/edit with , studio one = garish/convoluted (multipane to see inserts instead of PT's one big overview screen which is hand's down the best and clearest way to mix), I can't even bring myself to mention the rest or take them seriously... you know what they are, all toys or nerd projects. Also, get back to me when you find any other DAW that you can hook up a (once) 25k world class controller too like the 24 fader ICON D-Command, which you can now pick up for less than £2k, vs all those other 'big mouse' useless 8 fader bank controllers for everything else.

Most people who put PT down have either never used it or have an axe to grind with Avid. It's as fast if not faster than all those clever drag/drop short cuts in S1 for example, but by using even faster key modifiers, and bypassing, do to all, do to selected, the way the timeline cursors work, the solidity of takes (you'll never get any dropouts/crackles in a PT take as it'll stop and warn you - vs the hundreds of ruined takes in the past in Nuendo, Cubase, S1 and others many suffered).

PT may have been slower to adopt SOME things like folders and freezing but when they did it, they did it in the best way possible, fastest and most reliable. S1 has had some awful bugs that would literally lose recordings or crash everytime you bounced... if you're a midi guy who makes shitty EDM, sure.. go elswhere, but for real musicians using/recording voice and instruments and actually MIXING.. Pro Tools is STILL the best. Any other opinion just reflects sadly on the commenter not on Pro Tools (I think the Tchad Blake's, Schepps and all the other pro mixers and producers of this world know more about this than you!)

That said, specifically about THESE plug-ins, well we had most of these since Audio Utopia's release and not many of them are any good so no, we don't use them really but it's nice to have the full pack update. Of course there's much better plugs out there now from softube, PA etc that I use in PT all the time. These plug-ins are somewhat outdated but Pro Tools HD/Ultimate is certainly NOT. It runs rings around the latest fashions like S1 and LUNA on many many tasks, even bouncing/freezing/commit are multiple times FASTER and less crashy, even on 5 year old 12.5 HD! HEAT is also unbeaten still in how/what it does vs the sub-part console shaper/mix FX in S1 and the crappy harrison mix bus (nightmare as a DAW) or even Luna's built in stuff (ok this isn't bad but it's tied to UAD's shizzle... yuck)

Lol, daw is a personal choice, is like a preference for audi, bmw, mercedes (better to put em in alphabetical order) they will bring you whenever to your destination.
In all my life sit in a studio the most important thing is the creativity is the gasoline for your engine…there is another site to comment a daw choice.
About Avid releases…I’m happy to see Avid done in somewhere, after 6 years of silent crazy commercial political crap, I would like to see Steinberg too, these software must be free from all this fucking bloated protections, serial protection should be the game change.
And if you use it …buy it with a decent right price, stripped down by the investment on crap protection.

You can google the fix for the elastic audio.
Download it, unzip it and just replace the one that's already in the folder.
As far as x-form, you may have to download it again. Just the single installer. And run that.
Peace.

Not everyone is using a daw for its audio recording capacities.
My daw of choice is Ablton because I use it like an instrument, looper, realtime tool etc...
Both Ableton and Bitwig shine for this usage.

Many people unfortunately forget that musicians use DAW for composition ...
Which implies that midi functions are very important for them.

Conclusion: there is no such thing as "best daw" it all depend of what you want to do with it, and what do you expect from it.
