For new versions of already installed software I always extract individual files from the installer and then test with DDMF Plugin Doctor if the plugin and the crack basically work (at all). Then I manually copy the files of interest to their destinations and delete the rest in extraction folder with one click. Among other things, you do not crowd your HD with unnecessary PDFs, links, uninstallers, presets, TXT files, etc. and your registry with keys, values and data for the plugins you do not use and do not even have on your HD.
Seems like a lot of work, but it's much less then searching and deleting unnecessary files and folders (might be hundreds of them) after full installation.

Suggestions:\
1) Do a system or disk/partition backup before installing any questionable software.
...and do REGULAR periodic backups as well, of course.
Then if you are really worried that you can't clean up after a timebomb or something, you can go back to EXACTLY the way the system was before you installed it.
There is NO SUBSTITUTE FOR THIS, and ...NO EXCUSE.

2) Always use a brickwall limiter on your master channel to avoid any timebomb noise bursts or just as a good practice in general in case you get crazy with the mix!!

3) Use a limiter or protection device for your monitors as well. Even if your DAW is limited, there can be something loud induced into your audio chain, and the more gear involved the greater the chance.

4) Use a Firewall that blocks everything by default and only permits connections that YOU allow.
It takes a little while to click "Allow" for those programs you want to connect, but once you open and "OK" all your browsers, you have done most of the work.
WFC (WIndows Firewall Control) is a great program for this. It is just a manager for the Windows firewall.
Just make sure you set it to "Notify" you so it asks if you want to permit connections.

(I am not saying a firewall control will prevent a Fabfilter timebomb..it is just a good idea in general.)

actually after 10 Days of good work wif it, my firefox opens and said i got a virus:a pirated version of fabfilter.

Curios, my daw is normally offline so i connected to "see" what the problem wif this timebomb issue you are talkin about, is. :)

Actually, i Cleaned up this installation, by using !youUninstaller and reInstalled the Files, and got offline again. Please do noit "flame" about, if there is a timebomb or not, i think its so easy to code 5 lines of code, if i where fabfilter coder i would write a script to integrate 5-8 "timebombs" wifout any performance issue, or stuff like that.

You a doing a SOLID GOOD job wif this release, so please be thankful for any good releases wifout any miningstuff, or malware :=

Twin 2 timebombed for me today. Didn't think about testing any other of the plug-ins because I was in the middle of a session so I just uninstalled the bundle and re-installed the latest R2R version. My machine is not connected, just in case someone still thinks it matters!
