This error is most likely due to Pro Tools itself and not the patch. You might want to check the duc website. Welcome to the frustrating world of Pro Tools!

0 Read instrucions of downloaded patch
1 Uninstall Protools 10 and patches
2 Clean all registry, run ccleaner
3 Verify that you have all admin rights, turn off your antivirus
4 Install again with admin rights "keep default options set up" (no change, nothing)

Good luck! al1958

I think it's a windows 8 issue. Try this :
1. Simply open the "Pro Tools Installer" install folder (NOT the menu executable).

2. Change the SETUP.exe file's Compatibility to "compatibility mode for Windows 7"

3. Change the Run mode to - Run as "Administrator"

4. Run the installer!

5. Once the installer has finished, install your drivers (in my case Factory 003) in the same way BEFORE you try and run ProTools. ie. Change the compatibility to Windows 7 and Run as Administrator before running any of the driver installers!

6. Download and do the same thing for the latest iLok drivers and client software (change compatibility AND run as administrator).

7. Go to the ProTools Application icon that's now installed - and repeat the same process. Change compatibility and Run as Administrator BEFORE you try running it...

8. NOW you should be able to run ProTools 10 happily on Windows 8.

9. Assuming this all works, repeat the above process with your plugins.. I have tested the latest versions from iZotope and Waves - and they seem fine! Do the usual Windows optimisations.. Turn off screensaver.. Check DEP is still on etc.

10. Enjoy ProTools on Windows 8..

I'll try, but I will give you a lot of work to uninstall it again haha, I'll let you know if it worked. Thanks PTPatty

Ps. According to what I consulted on page avid, my problem is with administrator rights, did everything tells me it does not work:

This help my with your exact situation. DEP and Lock Pages (and with the basics runing as admin, clean install, ASIO and ISSetupPrerequisites installed; Core Runtime, Effects, HD Driver x64, DigiDriver X64)

1) Once installed, you may get a crash error when launching Pro Tools, it has to be added to the DEP
Control Panel > System > Advanced System Settings > Under the box Performance click on Settings > go to the tab Data Execution Prevention > Turn on DEP... (reboot required) > then, click on "add..." > search for ProTools.exe and you are done.

Also another thing I noted was that when you run the installer, right click and hit the security tab and make sure all the permissions settings are set to allow for Admin, trusted installers and also Users.

2) Enable the Lock Pages in Memory Option (Windows)

SQL Server 2014 Other Versions 2 out of 7 rated this helpful - Rate this topic
This Windows policy determines which accounts can use a process to keep data in physical memory, preventing the system from paging the data to virtual memory on disk.
Note Note
Locking pages in memory may boost performance when paging memory to disk is expected.
Use the Windows Group Policy tool (gpedit.msc) to enable this policy for the account used by SQL Server. You must be a system administrator to change this policy.
To enable the lock pages in memory option
On the Start menu, click Run. In the Open box, type gpedit.msc.
On the Local Group Policy Editor console, expand Computer Configuration, and then expand Windows Settings.
Expand Security Settings, and then expand Local Policies.
Select the User Rights Assignment folder.
The policies will be displayed in the details pane.
In the pane, double-click Lock pages in memory.
In the Local Security Setting – Lock pages in memory dialog box, click Add User or Group.
In the Select Users, Service Accounts, or Groups dialog box, add an account with privileges to run sqlservr.exe.
Log out and then log back in for this change to take effect.

Lock Pages in Memory Option

Hmm..What exactly does this function do? From what i gather after google and searching its for servers. So how does this increase performance on a regular win machine? Ive been using PT for 10 yrs and never heard of this setting having a impact but has me curious!

For me it works in Windows 8.1 (Update 1) x64.

I just had to (re)install the ilok drivers from the original Download/Disk
(---DVD or Downloaded folder---\Pro Tools Installer\ISSetupPrerequisites\Pace License Support)

It didn't work with the currently available ilok drivers.

Maybe this helps.

But to be sure:
For me Pro Tools, Cubase etc. sucks!
I'll stay with the DAW I'm using since 14 years - FL Studio.

Hi! Greetings from Argentina! First thanks for the patch. Second, I have problems when I set Spanish language in preferences. Some elements and menus doesn´t display correct. e.g., I get "Fundidos" (Fades) instead of "Opciones" (Options). And so many errors. You know how fix it? Thanks in advance

Reading the manual would help. That's how it's meant to be in PT if I recall right...I remember when I was running out of power and having to raise buffer, I had to save, increase buffer, reopen and reload session. But not 100% sure, long time no use it...

Seems too good to be true. Probably a scam but the site (and video) really makes it look convincing. No Pro tools 11?
