Bitwig Studio v4.3 [WiN macOS LiNUX]-FLARE screenshot
Team FLARE | 29 June 2022 | WiN: 288 MB | macOS: 378 MB | LiNUX: 277 MB
RELEASE NUMBER: FLARE-1837/FLARE-1838/FLARE-1839

Bitwig Studio 1 was hello, world! Version 2 brought program-wide modulators and CV integration. Version 3 saw the birth of The Grid, our modular sound-design environment. And for version 4, new musical timelines have arrived.

This means comping for audio clips, both in the Clip Launcher and the Arranger. A new set of Operators, for changing the chance, recurrence, and more of any note or audio event. Random Spread for any expression point (like per-note pitch, or audio panning) with perfect control. And Native Apple Silicon support on Mac, even allowing Intel and ARM plug-ins to work side-by-side.

Welcome to Bitwig Studio 4.

What's new in 4.3

Your Sound is Going Spaces
Our new device, Convolution, can take any sound anywhere — even places that don't exist. All convolutions imprint your sound with an “impulse,” and ours comes ready-made with 270 of them, ranging from 12th-century cathedrals and legendary studio effects to more abstract “environments.” Using the impulse of a room or hall creates a realistic reverb, but Bitwig's Convolution and content offers so much more.

Fashionably Late
Delay+ is Bitwig's latest boutique audio effect. By balancing familiar controls along with a few thoughtful new ones, Delay+ can either add a little character or fully transform your sound as it ping-pongs along.

The New Face of Polymer
Polymer and The Grid use the same modules, so when something new comes along, everybody wins. For Bitwig 4.3, some analog-inspired goodies have arrived.

Two modules are new. Union is an oscillator that plays it straight, blending three waveshapes into one pleasant, drifting output. And for filtering, Low-pass MG honors Mister Moog by imitating both his classic filter and mix buss.

Topping Off
As always, a few more new features came along for the ride. For example, FX tracks now have sends of their own. And yes, direct feedback routings are available — and clearly labeled (Achtung!). And the ADSR module gets a lot of use, so why not add a “bias” out port for a bipolar signal that centers around sustain? Good for pitch or anything that might want a little drift.

Whether it is recording settings, lyrics, or performance notes, comments can be freely added to tracks, layers, Arranger cue markers, and Launcher scenes — just start writing in your language. And by distributing our Linux build over Flatpak and supporting PipeWire, many distros will have a smoother experience with Bitwig, including Ubuntu users. And maybe even Steam Decks?…

Bitwig Studio 4.3 supports the CLAP plug-in standard.

I never let any k'd DAW go pass through internet all the time. I'm worried the VST will get access to it. Even all my legit plugins activated using offline method.
It makes no sense to say you’re not good at it. It’s like saying, “I’m not good at being a monk.” You are either living as a monk or you’re not.

UPDATE:
i have been testing it all day.
I dunno if someone had problems with it, but I found it has a timebomb of some sort. I had serum + rotary + comb + saturator + lfo tool. When I moved lfo tool at the end of the chain, one of those weird morse code beeps sounded and the audio engine deactivated. I erased everything except an audio track with no luck (just to see if the bug was related to a plugin or something). Audio engine keeps deactivating right after hitting play again
Although, if you open a new project tab during the same session, this one plays fine

Yup got the timebomb as well. It was working fine the first time I launch. Then these crazy beeping keeps happening.

Do we need to block the internet connection?

EDIT: Timebomb happens when opening my old projects made in previous version of bitwig (v4.2.2). So far it's fine when creating & re-opening projects made with this release. But let's see.

@UNREALX same here. I have made a nice template I've been using the last year with a lot of plugins. It get's straight a morsecode timebomb sound when played in arrangement. - it does not appear when arrangement stopped and I am just casually playing on my keyboard.

Well, the general rule is that you must always block the internet.
Use a firewall.
On Windows, I have used WFC (Windows Firewall Control) for many years. WFC
It is a great, simple GUI for the built-in Windows firewall (whose GUI and operation SUCKS).

Set WFC to 'Notify" you, because it will block EVERY connection until you choose "allow". Use the "Medium Filters" and you will never have a authorization reset due to "phone home".
Set it to start automatically with Windows and it will sit in the tray.

You don't really need to add it to the Windows context menu for manually choosing to block programs, as the pop-up works great.

I remember when version 3 or something came out and the morse code beeps were an issue even if you were completely offline or blocked bitwig with firewall.
I have not tried using this build offline, but I'm pretty sure it won't work just as the other build I mentioned. It has to be a code related thing but who knows
Also, last version posted here (4.0.8) works fine while online. I've NEVER switched my connection off to use any software and everything is ok so, yeah....

this was often an issue in Bitwig, save the project again is the fix if i remember correctly, or saving in a new folder. somethign along those lines

Hmm. I guess it's time to do my first distro hop ever! Since FL cracks have been thwarted.. as an FL user, Bitwig has always seemed to appeal to me. I also heard it has native 32-bit VST2 support, so I will have to put that to the test and see how stable it is (I have a ton of irreplaceable 32-bit VST2 plugins).

Nice to have CLAP support too just in case. Maybe it will take off and beat LV2? Hopefully they didn't jump the gun with a too-early implementation.

You can even import FL projects, didn't tried it, but did with Ableton template project from this site (Artbat - Return to Oz Remix) and it opened nicely (except for master bus where there was some mismatch), 3rd party plugins and all automation's, native devices too, I was pleasantly surprised that it loaded same settings from native Ableton devices into Bitwig native ones, sure, it doesn't sound 1:1, but EQ settings are there, samples loaded in Sampler and all that, 3rd party devices open with same settings. It's much better thing than doing all that manually, even if you have to do maybe 20% to sound the same, that 80% that it does automatically saves a lot of time and work.
