For example, Cymbals are sample based. I read it on KVR, a post by IK Multimedia. For sure There is a lot of stuff which is sampled.

Best Monday ever. Thanks R2R! Always unsurpassed.

Bottom line is that it's not 100% physically modeled otherwise it would be way less than 1 gb like Modo Bass or Pianoteq for example.
Anyway, well done IK!

Drums are physically modeled, but cymbals are still sampled. Hence the big size.

It's even a bit ( many bits ) worse, if I may say so : " 20 GB of available hard-disk space " writes the home site =>
System Requirements

So 20 GB just for cymbal sampled that seems way too much, reading the content offered...

I am also disappointed. But this info has been published on Gearslutz.
Apperently, realistic modeling of cymbals is still too hard.

What? 6 and a half gigs for modeled drum sounds? Thanks very much, but no thanks. I'll stay with the 9 gigs from Addictive Drums 2 using REAL drum samples.

quote by jojofunI've been wondering about Addictive Drums compared to this one. For those of you who will stick to AD2 what are your reasons, if you don't mind my asking?

The french guys from audiofanzine reviewed it last friday...

A few things they absolutely dislike :
- people will buy this thinking this is 100% physical modeling, like their bass product, or pianoteq, when, in reality, only the drums and toms and snares are phisical modeling-based... EVERYTHING else, like cymbals, clashs, cowbell, are SAMPLE BASED (super well recorded, according to the reviewers)

- that hybrid approach ends up costing the user several gigas of space, while substantially increasing the loading times, specially during preset change.

- the search engine is outdated, eg, we can't search a particular beat, by drawing/entering some notes (eg, show me all the files that contain a snare at position 3-5-7, and a kick at 1 and 9)

-not many rythms presets

i was wondering if someone could offer some help please....i could be wrong but it seems its an all in one installation process..ie: it installs the full 6.5 GB in one go. to the c:\ drive .i'm keen to avoid
having all that on my drive...is there a way to point it to install the samples on another drive (ai mean apart from the VST)?

- At initial install, the first question let's you chose the drive / folder.
- The second where to install the VST plug-in.

You can alter the location by opening the registry editor and driving to - :
=> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IK Multimedia\MODODRUM

or using this *.reg file :
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IK Multimedia\MODODRUM]
"GroovesPath"="M:\\Librairies\\MODO DRUM\\Grooves"
"ResPath"="M:\\Librairies\\MODO DRUM\\ModoDrum.pak"
"DataPath"="M:\\Librairies\\MODO DRUM\\ModoDrumData.pak"
"ConfigPath"="M:\\Librairies\\MODO DRUM\\ModoDrumConfig.pak"
"VstID"="Mdd1"
"HelpFile"="M:\\Librairies\\MODO DRUM\\MODO DRUM User Manual.pdf"
"Version"="1.0.0"

where, in my case :

=> M is the drive letter.
=> Librairies is my genetic librairies folder ( genius name, huh ? )

Otherwise, delete those keys, uninstall / reinstall the app, and watch carefully the first question asked.

Google "ultimate plugin tool" .
That's what I use to move / relocate large plugin data folders to an external drive.
Works perfect.

@ lobster2000

Good to know about it. Thanks.

But useless install here. Also, we're Onan's children, we do it all by hand.

Probably your CPU is old cause AVX is not new feature. Some softwares needs AVX, without AVX you cant use them. I didnt like Modo Drum its not good as EZ Drummer, Addictive, Superior, BFD, Slate etc. Even it dont have keymap. They put EQ, volume, pitch effects for drum pieces and showing like physically modelling advantages thats all.

Thank you.
I think they shouldn't forced everyone to chance their CPU because of this vat!!!
Every plugin and vst are working in my PC perfectly.

Ithought I had a good CPU

Intel(R) cORE(TM) i7 CPU [email protected]

Modo Drums require a CPU with APX support?

That was a waste of time downloading and I guess I have to miss out.

Any idea why my UI looks like this? Notice the rectangles instead of stars. Also the tabs looks messed up.

That kind problems generally happens about fonts or Windows language. You may try to change Windows language to English (if not) and try to install again.

I got a really strange problem....

Hello, yes I have the same problem too. Anybody else?

Also Thank You So Much to this site and the fellas at R2R! You give a lot of people a chance to do stuff that they otherwise would never be able to and for many of us that really means a lot.

Hello Again. Strangely enough after a couple of computer restarts for various reasons my MODO Drums went from Arabic back to English (which is where I want it to be). I have no clue as to why or how. Just wondering if you got yours fixed?

Also, I had one other program which was the guitar Amp Sim JAMVOX 3. It also had the presets listed in Arabic and now they have reverted back to English as well. I have no clue as to what in the sam hell took place here, but happy it's over.

Thanx to all involved with this release
Appreciate testing it out.

Uninstalled now though.

Ive ad2 and sd3, personally i feel it cant really compete with either.
In as far as preferences go , with metal foundry included in sd3 , it annhialates ad2
Thats just my opinion though n doesnt mean much

thanks. wow 7gb, i hope my old i5-2500 has APX support
i'm going to download city next week so i'll grab it. for me it seems that its strength comes from its raw sounds, which i liked/never heard before. i have AD2 - love it to bits . i'm not a collector, i just keep the bests, like nembrini jcm800 their hammond smokes my cpu so i'll see

AVX exist since 2011, if your CPU manufactured after 2011 it should have AVX.
