FREE PC/MAC multiband compressor: Acustica Audio Violet CM

It’s Computer Music's 20th anniversary this month… and to celebrate, readers of CM260 get a totally exclusive mastering-grade processor from one of the most revered brands in the world of analogue modelling!

Based on some seriously smooth mastering hardware, Acustica Audio’s Violet CM is a three-band valve compressor suitable for mixing and mastering duties. Use it to transparently even out dynamics, or dial up the heat to imbue your mixes and masters with expensive analogue colour and flavour.

Find out how to use Violet CM in the video below, and buy CM260 to download the plugin in VST, AU and AAX formats for PC and Mac.

Acustica Audio offers a single band version of Violet for users of their Nebula 4 software. This version made exclusively for Computer Music Magazine is a three band version of the compressor.

Sampled from the original Hardware is the heart beat of this company and they are improving their tech each and every day ! AA has come along way since they first began this quest for getting IMO as close as it gets to the Real Deal >>>as a Production Studio owner who works with alot of great hardware units on the front end i can say this with confidence that this is where THE hardware sound resides ITB >>> I built a 16 Core 32 thread monster rig solely for the purpose of using this companies plugs ;) i use a few different DAWs but Reaper along with my newest build can handle as many of these i can throw at it in a mix >>>But for many years i used a i7 8 core and a 12 core and with proper setup it ran just fine .. If you dont have enough CPU power to run these plugs save these for bus duty only and use Algos for track work ;) this way can still get some AA flavor in the mix without killing your rig \m/

It is supposed to be a mastering comp, so I would assume that you wouldn't need too many instances of it hitting your sound.

Yes good point its design and main purpose for mastering ;) but their are no rules>>> if you have the power and need this Multi for some track duties or multiple buses like a drum bus for taming only low end or some harsh mids \m/ I sometimes use a multiband Comp or dynamic EQ for taming low end thump/low mid on a guitar bus . I somtimes do this on a vocal that has some bass heavy parts or some plods that got threw the pop filter to even out the vocal passes ;)

If you need to use a multi band you could simply use the standard DAW one and then finish off with this in your mastering chain. You can have too much of a 'good thing' sometimes.

I had a Mix, 62 instances of Plugins in it -> Asio Power 1/4
I disabled all 62 Instances and loaded Violet -> Asio Power is full, Asio Guard is freaking out.

It sounds great, but it's just not usable. And this is Core 12...

Thanx for it anyway!!!
