About Rose
Acustica is pleased to introduce with N4 pack our amazing Rose acqua plug-in. It's free for N4 owners and it is based on CORE9.
Rose is a compressor with a double identity. At the click of a switch, it is able to change its personality from a gentle and forgiving action to a tight, superfast control down to the sharpest transient.
The reason behind this versatility is easily explained. Two distinct hardware compressors with very different attitudes have been built and sampled specifically for this plugin: an optical device and an FET-based one.
The opto compressor is built around a Vactrol cell. You might call it the βDr. Jekyllβ of the pair, since its features are those typical of all the compressors based on this technology: a smooth gain-reducing action, a soft knee, and last but not least, attack and release curves shaped in a way that over the years has proven especially good for vocals and bass instruments. The optical cell isn't the fastest device in the world, but its action is always musical and easily set. You'll be surprised by how much gain reduction you can achieve on most materials before things start to sound weird. And even more so with some HP filtering in the sidechain.
The FET compressor is a whole other story. Its typical traits are a lightning-fast action and aggressive A/R curves; furthermore, it can easily talked into pumping like mad. All these features make an FET device ideal for heavy drums/percussion processing and for any other task where a snappy reaction is needed. Parallel compression (aka New York compression) is another field in which our unsettling βMr. Hydeβ excels.
