worked for me. I had the
- Native.Instruments.Kontakt.5.v5.6.1.UNLOCKED.Incl.Keygen-R2R
as a base and had updated to 5.6.6 with the files:
- Native Instruments Kontakt 5 v5.6.5 Update UNLOCKED Incl Keygen-R2R
- Native Instruments Kontakt 5 v5.6.6 Update No Install WiN

I just replace the files and now it's 5.8.0 both standalone and plugin. There is a couple of negatives: You cannot add libraries from kontakt as you could with 5.6.6. Some libraries could only be added that way (could not add with addlibrary.exe), but I kept the 5.6.6 .exe file and can just change it back when that problem occurs. Another negative is that it loads slow on first load after a windows restart, but it loads fast on the second load so I guess I can live with that

Native Instruments has updated Kontakt to v5.8.0.

The contents of the Libraries tab can now be filtered by text search.
The contents of the Libraries tab can now be alphabetically sorted.
Improved:

The virtual keyboard now automatically resizes to match rack widths higher than the default.
KSP: The maximum number of controls per control type has now been raised to 512.
KSP: The maximum array size has now been raised to 1000000.
KSP: get_control_par () wouldn't work for ui_level_meter.
KSP: One can now have up to three file selector widgets in a single script slot.
The Manage Libraries button now launches the Libraries preferences.
Fixed:

Default file sorting was seemingly random on APFS volumes.
Some KSP UI elements would disappear when used in multiple instruments in the same rack.
KSP: Kontakt would crash when attempting to build a MIDI pattern from a large while loop.
Certain filters would use more memory than necessary.

I updated from Auditor 5.7.3 with copy/paste. Now it says Kontakt 5 Player.
I also installed the Portable 5.8 from today 16.4.2018 and so I have both of them in my DAW (Samplitude Pro X3, Win10 x64).
One Kontakt is: Kontakt Player (when clicking on Kontakt Plyer -> Kontakt 5 Player, 5.8.0 (R36)
the other is: Kontakt Portable (when clicking on Kontakt Portable -> Kontakt 5, 5.8.0 (R36)

Yes, mine now says Player too.
Is there a easy way to check if it works like Kontakt (ie its just the name) or Just works like Kontakt Player (ie it is just the player)?

I replaced the dll from 5.7.3 with this and everything was working fine for a while but now im getting loads of pfn list bsods. Im assuming kontakt is now causing memory leaks creating these bsods. As of yesterday i can no longer open my projects unless i remove kontakt from the vst folder. That also made me realise that it is kontakt that has been making my project load times take ages.

I installed 5.7.1 Auditor version and did the overwrite (The Add library button not working, but the "Add Library.exe" works fine, even copied to any place on my computer).
So, all seems good, but I wonder about the Symlink assembly you mentioned.
I don't even see a "Symlink Installer.exe" in this package. I looked in my old Auditor 5.7.3, and
I even extracted the "Kontakt 5 5.7.3 Setup PC.exe" and searched in there, too, for "Symlink Installer.exe", but did not find it.
I have always been confused as to what "Symlink Installer" meant. I assumed it used symbolic links to achieve install. I use them myself (both manually created and with a handy program (HardLinkShellExt_X64), but i don't understand the references to Symlink Installer.
What am I missing?
