Waldorf Lector v1.0.4-R2R screenshot
TEAM R2R 2015.04.30 | 28.21 MB
Robot voices, whispering strings, talking drum loops, rhythmic pads, the resonant ringing of bells, dripping water - the possibilities are all but infinite. With a quick tweak here and there, the Lector turns any incoming signal into novel sounds and effects. Tremendously versatile, the Lector puts in your hands a sonic toolset for a wide range of diverse applications. Just about anything goes, from distorting the human voice to adding subtle harmonies to lead vocals and getting creative with movie soundtracks.

The analysis filter bank splits the incoming audio signal into as many as 100 frequency bands, the intensity of which modulates the volume levels of an equal number of band-pass filters in the synthesis filter bank. The integrated 16-voice synthesizer or an external source provides the input signal for the synthesis filter bank. This lets you do fun things like apply a melody line or chord sequence to articulate vocals or speech.

When we set out to develop the Lector, we looked long and hard at what it takes to make a powerful vocoder tick. This why you will find on the ergonomic user interface some special features and unusual parameters that let you tweak even the most minute details. The fabled Waldorf multimode filter with slope of 12dB or 24dB features prominently. You also get a whitening filter that bleaches the signal before it is colored by the vocoder. This comes in very handy when you’re processing choir and voice samples. A three-band equalizer serves to boost and cut whatever frequencies of the generated signal you wish to target.

The integrated 16-voice synthesizer sports two oscillators with quintessential analog waveforms such as sine, triangle, sawtooth, and square with variable pulse width, sample & hold and noise, as well as freely loadable single and multi-samples. FM and ring modulation enrich the vocoder’s signal with further overtone spectra. The Lector also offers a selection of typical effects used to refine vocoder signals - tube overdrive, transistor distortion and hard clipping, six-voice chorus / flanger, synchronizable stereo delay, and realistic reverb.

NOTE:
Kawa-eLicenser v1.0.2 or later is required to be installed.

I believe that this is a very good synth but I never managed to install it right so that it works flawlessly. That licenser thing is so "last century". Waldorf, please. Other companys did it right and switched to (for the customer) much more simple protection mechanisms. If your software is good & worth its price there is no need to protect it. People will buy it anyway.

they are taking notes, after your comment, and started coding a soft e-licenser, so people don't need tokens anymore...

unfortunately, many "musicians", today, are 15-25. when they started using a computer, at 10, internet broadband, napster-like apps, emule, etc, started being used by almost everybody, and most of those guys grew up in a world where 99,9% of things were available via a right clic "save file as".

result: if you ask those guys to buy a nice bluray movie or a nice album that they like, for 1euro or 1 dollar only, they will rather google it, and will download it for 0 cts.

protools, cubase, live, sonar, etc, are very expensive daws, right ?
and automatically, many people will tell you "oohh, you should buy Reaper, they listen to their customers feedback and ideas, they are a great small working team, provide great support, and their app pretty much supports all hardware, and have 99% of the features found on other daws + much more, and it barely costs 50 dollars"

so, in the perfect world we live in, Cockos, specially at that ultra low price, must be selling 200 copies of reaper, every single day, right ?
i wish someone from cockos could read this, and could tell us if it is selling great, or not...
but once again, why spending 50$, when all people need to do is -save file as, and 1 minute later, they are installing and running it..

e-licenser sucks, but it's either that, or no cubase. so i had no choice, and had to buy one, if i wanted to use cubase.
just imagine if nexus was fully cracked, today... 99/100 guys out there would have it installed, along its 20 or 30 expansions.those without cubase-e-licenser, they can still use the "old" nexus with the old expansions. i can't, with my cubase 8...
the same with vengeance plugins: everybody would have them on the hard drive. etc etc

for some companies, they prefer reducing their net profit by 30 or 40%, by going dongle, but at least, they know each copy sold will bring them some cash.

i've been dreaming of mach 5 v.3, and soundtoys pack.
but when i hear and read all the bad comments and critics regarding ilok and the company, it just scares me. i imagine one day, making a simple routine update, and for x reasons, or bugs, ilok removes my plugins, and i have to spend 4 months with the support. also, it looks like the used usb sticks are poorly built, with crappy components, and can easily die-->40+30$ for sending it + a new dongle.

but because of that ilok(even if mach 5 can work with soft ilok), i can't have soundtoys, and a few other apps.
and because the old soundtoys don't work with windows 8.1... i'm fucked.
yes, there is a soundtoys for windows 8.1... but i don't know if it really works flawlessly...

long comment, bud, but it's not tomorrow that we well get a dongle-less cubase 9, reason 9 without their online check+ dongle+other, etc etc.

couldn't find what's new with this version, on the wdorf website. even the manual is silent.

so, please,
what is the difference(s) between the lector v1.03 by Chaos, that doesn't even need an e-licenser to install/run, any license thing, nothing, nada, nic, and can perfectly run on a computer with a legit e-licenser dongle without any issues (i wanted to try running cubase 7-7.5 and loading lector, no problem at all, nothing added to the e-licenser manager, no problem at all..

and this 1.04 version, that requires the Kawa e-licenser ?

why should people install this version (ok, if they already have Kawa installed, it's not a big deal, simply installing the app) ? which benefits?
better cracked ? more stable ? more features ? other Os supported?

thx

I also use CHAOS' 1.03 version, and wondering the same. ;) I'm no a fan of running additional licensing programs, too. Crack it to the bone is always better. ;) And I have no problems with the CHAOS version at all. Really, what's the deal?

No issue for me, (French) Win 7 Pro x64, REAPER 4.77 (eval) x64, Lector x64 VST2 plugin used as insert FX (behind any VSTi, or as receive on separate bus), using brickwall limiter (FF Pro-L) on Master bus (to protect my monitors - in case of plugin/DAW crash), running looped MIDI since 60 minutes (I'm tied to hear the same noise) without stop issue (you're mentioned) nor crash.

The readme aren't clear, however... Steps are working for me:

1/ if not already done: download official eLC software (lastest version in date: 6.9.1.1168) and install it (accept the install of device driver, if asked).

2/ if not already done: install Kawa-eLicenser 1.0.2 (R2R). Can be reinstalled over, it's not a problem.

3/ if not already done: use Kawa-eLicenser patch utility to patch SYNSOACC.dll file located inside C:\Windows\system32 - note: patching fail if... already patched.

4/ Copy .dll files from archive (from VST x64) to C:\VST64\Waldorf (create Waldorf subfolder if doesn't exist). In this example, assuming C:\VST64 is my specific x64 VST2 plugins master folder (default is C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VstPlugins). Don't patch the .dll's because they're already patched!

5/ Copy the "Lector" subfolder (enclosed inside APPDATA from archive) to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Waldorf (create Waldorf subfolder if doesn't exist)... and voilà le travail!!!

From plugin, click on File (just above "Basic" from plugin screen), select "Load Program" from pulldown menu, browse to your AppData\Roaming\Waldorf\Lector\VST2 Presets, then open any .fxp file you want.

Works fine (win7 pro x64) THANKS

..if this help:

1. ) unzip the folder on your desktop
2. ) copy the AppData (Lector) from this content ► to your AppData / then, the plugins to your specific VST dir. (don`t create new folder yet)
3. ) download and install Kawa-eLicenser v1.0.2 or above ( incl. R2R Patch)
4. ) important ► create now a new folder ..like "Lector" in your default VST dir.
5.) copy the fresh imported *dll + Lector Library from your VST dir ► to the new ... "Lector" folder.
6. ) restart your DAW and rescan the plugins

that's it

Never copy anything directly to AppData, or to AppData\Local. User data files reside in AppData\Roaming. See my post above (15.05.2015) for presets, working fine for me...
