Acidgrooves The Protector VST-CHAOS

Thank you, CHAOS! I like how this one sounds. And all their other plugins. Non-linearities are the key. ;)

There's something wrong with the controls, though. Have anybody noticed? The controls reset to defaults when you close the window, but the sound stays the same. Weird. Protection or a bug? All their plugins show the same behaviour.

I wanted to try the demo to check if they exhibit the same behaviour, but you have to sign up to download demos. :( baaah

And when I signed up for demos, I couldn't download anything because all they offer me are OS-X versions. LOL Complicated company. That won't go well for them. I'm going to erase the account. If they let me. Someone's got an ego as big as a Moon there.

Yesterday it worked with MAC & PC versions - Now they blocked PC downloads maybe because they have been cracked, released!
Some devs get in panic....

Thank you for the notice, Kookaboo. Yeah, they probably blocked the PC downloads. Oh well, there are plenty of other companies who don't go berserk when their plugins get cracked. Some are certainly aware of the fact that any promotion is a good promotion, except the self inflicted bad promotion.

This "The Protector" emulates some non-linear behaviour, so I don't believe it's a copy of BlueCat's product. The only similar feature they share is that they're brickwall limiters, and this one sounds pretty good when not driven too much.

But this company is weird... they should be more user friendly for a newbie company. They're just starting, and starting off a wrong foot. ;)

But why not 64 bit?

They really blocked PC downloads. You can try yourself using a temporary E-mail to register. After you have signed in, there are no PC downloads displayed anymore!

They're Swiss? :) Interesting. I don't think I have one Swiss plugin. :)

I find this Protector really nice sounding on a buss, with USP at off, and no oversampling as their oversampling sucks judging by my tests. TAD on the other hand sounds good. It gives some liveliness to the sound.

Anyway, nice plugin. I might even consider buying at least "Protector" if they get rid of the bugs. As I mentioned, controls work strangely for me. When I close the plugin window, and open it again, the controls reset to defaults.

I don't think I have one Swiss plugin. :)

In case that you use 'Sonic Projects OP-X Pro' or 'OP-X Pro II',
the 'so famous' VSTi replica of the 'not less famous' 'Oberheim OB-Xa', then you also use at least another 'Swiss' Plugin !
