Acustica Audio Ocean 2023-R2R screenshot
Team R2R | 2024.12.21 | 79.7 MB
Ocean is the new multi-band processing tool, presented as a single Acqua plugin available in VST, VST3, AAX, and AU formats in Core 19 based on our 'Hyper' technology encompassing a remarkable assortment of Acustica's most acclaimed emulations based on top-tier hardware units.

Multiband processing is a set of techniques renowned for its power and effectiveness, but it can be a challenging task to configure and manage successfully. There are numerous potential pitfalls to watch out for when using these techniques, making them all the more crucial to approach it with caution and attentiveness. However, our Ocean plugin is designed to address these complexities by providing an intuitive and powerful solution.

What you get
Ocean presents itself as a unique plugin with a visually captivating 'hybrid' interface that seamlessly blends the best features of 2D and 3D, delivering a truly immersive user experience. It comes in a β€œStandard” version and an alternative β€œZL*” version, which operates at *zero latency and is thus suitable for use when tracking, at the cost of extra processing resources.

Key features
Multi-band processing.
Simplified workflow.
Hyper engine.
Acustica's most acclaimed emulations included.
Superior transient emphasis thanks to the expander.
Perfectly balanced output signal.
Numeric Input/Display for main controls.
Several listening mode options (Ξ”, LR, M, S).
Over 70 presets.
Up to 4x oversampling.
Resizable GUI*

Claretta says,

Library is completely decrypted, decompressed, DRM related bloat removed, and built to the clean one.

Apart from the protection, Ocean has one of the worst resource waste. 120 of N2V files have DLL file for Win and Mac. This DLL is used to process some DSP that core plugin does not have. Why doesn't he put that DLL in common place instead of injecting to every single N2V, you may wonder. You are normal.

Oh what a lovely Christmas present.
Thank you R2R

Sucks that you have to do devs work on top half of the time

Ocean is incredible. its very cpu heavy, but damn does it slap. Highly recommend, even if you are on the "i hate acustica" train.

also.,,a TON of drama on the acustica Thing gearspace thread today. A user is calling out Giancarlo for the fact that their installer has constant Root access on MAC.

Giancarlo lives in a world of his own called β€œthe amazing world of Giancarlo and his messy plugins”. When SOME good ideas get messed up by the craze for protection at all costs.
Merry pizza Xmas to Giancarlos.

I think I'm willing to bet money that Giancarlo's coder is a family member he hired as a favour, but they've only learnt basic coding which is why AA plugins are extremely inefficient.

As Claretta has pointed out so many times, Giancarlo is a pure form of exposed SCAM. Always was, still is and always will be! Period.

Ocean is much more than a simple multiband limiter. It is compressor, saturator, expander, limiter all in one. With multiple sampled curves for each. Im no aware of any other plugin that has its features. Newfangled plugins are awesome, i use them in almost every session, but ocean is in its own lane as well.

I've had all the newfangled audio plug-ins for a long time now, but I can't find a multiband limiter among their products. Am I missing something?

Newfangled Elevate is a limiter with 26 frequency bands :)

Obviously I meant a traditional three-band limiter, not a specktral limiter/compressor..

what? Elevate has 26 bands and you didn't noticed it? Not just that but the transient module too.

Could anyone refresh my memory and tell me where to put everything in WIndows? I get the VST3 version of plugin to show up but there is no sound and none of the controls work

copy everything inside the VST3 folder into the COMMON folder. Rename the COMMON folder to "Ocean" and put it in your VST3 default location.

My wish as well, they are the best of the Acustica plugins but for some reason they're some of the only ones that didn't drop.

If anyone having trouble to understand the concept of COMPRESSOR-LIMITER-SATURATOR used by Acustica in their Hyper engine, I suggest you check out Newfangled Audio Invigorate to get basic understanding of how dynamic processing is in the digital domain. They are more or less similar to each other but the curve (ratio, knee etc) and reaction speed (att/rel) played a big factor to determine what it is doing. In Invigorate you can listen closely the changes in character when sliding from one side to another while monitoring the curve type.

The simplest example we always hear is something like "a compressor with ratio more than 10 is basically a limiter" A more modern saying these days - "A limiter with extremely fast attack and release is Clipper" which takes us to "A Clipper is actually a distortion generator or saturator"

p/s : Just want to share something I've learn long time ago and I believe a lot of people understand it differently. I said "reaction speed" instead of "reaction time" for the attack and release that are commonly labeled with ms (milliseconds) that should suggest it's a time unit. A compressor designer told me an attack time of 10ms doesn't mean the compressor will only react 10ms after the signal crossed the threshold like how we usually hear people said "let the transient through", but the total time it takes to reach maximum gain reduction the moment signal crossed the threshold which translates to the speed of the attack. Compression starts instantaneously the moment the signal crossed the threshold, but the knee and lookahead also factor in when. Transients are still getting smashed just faster or slower that result in either a lot or less of it getting the smashing. The time the compressor wait for before starting to react is "Attack Hold" or just "Hold" which can be seen in newer compressor plugins these days. Pulsar Mu has "Lookbehind" that offers slightly different behavior (I think). Hopefully this could be useful for some.
