Maybe because this dev is following the same scheme Steve Duda does “🌈 Lifetime free updates!”

You own the synth, lifetime free updates, three activations, you can share it with a friend (as their page says), now it's being endorsed by R2R, low CPU and RAM usage, support old CPUs… with those features and for FM maniacs must be a fair price

Thank you for your response; you've made some solid points, and I completely agree. This synth has the potential to be the best FM synth on the market.

However, I have a few suggestions:

1. The interface is very dark, and I couldn’t find an option to change the skin. This made it challenging to fine-tune the output gain accurately.

2. There’s no noise oscillator. While it’s possible to create noise using the exponent distortion module, having a dedicated noise oscillator—like in FM8, Sytrus, or Ableton’s Operator—would be a great addition.

3. There’s no harmonic drawing feature. Almost all modern FM synths have this capability, which allows for more detailed and flexible sound design.

4. There's no sampler functionality. I understand it’s an FM synth, but adding the option to FM from noise—similar to Serum—would unlock a whole new range of creative possibilities.

5. The interface isn’t resizable and lacks OpenGL support, which made some of the text appear a bit pixelated.

I made these observations just from experimenting with the synth, so please feel free to correct me if I’m mistaken on any of these points.

What modern FM synths are you referring to? There hasn't been any pure FM synths since FM8 and it was more than 15 years ago.

I also wonder where did you find a noize OSC in FM8???

While respecting the rules of Audioz release discussion, i want to clear some misconception.

By 'modern synthesis,' I mean something beyond the old DX7 emulations that some people still enjoy—and I respect that.
You might be slightly incorrect about the 15-year timeframe. In fact, just last year or the year before, AIR Music released OPX-4, which I found to be a somewhat unsatisfactory attempt.
I haven't tried the Korg Opsix Native, which was also released recently. Additionally, Image Line's Sytrus has been modernized with contemporary workflow features, offering what I consider the most appealing features in any FM synthesizer. I still use FM8 and don't find it outdated or clunky.

edit: i might be using a different FM8 because i use noise osc frequently

Yeah, my bad. OPX-4 and Korg Opsix Native are so clumsy that they were completely wiped out of my mind. I have another recent FM attempt and it's Traction F-em, though it's better than OPX-4 and Opsix I didn't enjoy it either. While GHOST, this synth looks very promising and it might become my go to FM

By the way, I just found you can drag and drop your own wavetables in GHOST, I hope they can add a wavetable editor or a harmonic drawing feature as you said if they will gonna continue this way, more sound design possibilities could be possible with that feature

Its also very hard in todays market to get used widely, since there are so many plugins compared to 2006 with only a handful of plugins.

There actually is plenty of applications for this plugin as it has both the modularity of fm8/sytrus with the workflow and overall design similar to such a familiar synth like serum.

The difference lies just in the ad campaigns and promotions/endorsements on both long and short video format content creators. Synths like Vital "made it" because being free was part of the appeal.

yeah its a crazy FM synth with a very huge variety of algo, since it has a FM matrix.

the way how people discover plugins has drastically changed - honestly i hate short video content, i found new plugins here or on kvraudio, only rarely on yt but with longer yt reviews.

Yeah I mostly monitor Audioz for releases, mostly because it's either sought after stuff that gets cracked/requested or relevant enough. I still like to look for niche stuff but that happens rarely because I don't want to inflate the number of things I use too much.

It's worth noting though that the newer generations are chronically online and the vast majority of them will just soak in any kind of advice coming from vertical videos, from workflows and taste to choice of plugins so that you can emulate your idols better and live in the illusion to be able to get "that sound" and the success that comes with it. There are plenty psychological implications that this is no place to discuss on but even older generations lived that by some degree, it's just much worse now.

Anyway to get back on topic, I tested this version, works completely fine and no issues on my end (win11, studio one 7). Just wish it had a better GUI.

Just note: At the end of installation, a wrong shortcut is created on your desktop, it should points precisely to:

"C:\Program Files\Exacoustics\GHOST\GHOST.exe"

Just correct the shortcut's destination manually, if ever you have any use of the standalone version, else you can delete it and use another vst host.

Note that there is no icon, if this is a problem for you, you can always create one with an icon editor.

EDIT: Tested, works flawlessly in C14. With an i7 11th gen., the maximum CPU occupation I have, with 3 instances playing the same 8-measure chords sequence at the same time, is 5% max (Cubase + 3 instances, not the 3 instances alone).

Anyone else getting "Initialization Failed" on the keygen?

Before anyone says I dont have AV installed or Defender running, getting the same thing in a sandbox machine also

I even downloaded it from Katfile but its exactly the same.

Tried the KG on all 14 of my machines Win 10 and Win 11 but get the same error. Hopefully it will get fixed

But will assume it has worked just fine for others that have commented on the synth.

I just checked. My CPU is too old to handle this VST. It requires AVX support like the new Ableton 12. Not sure why the keygen isn't opening though.

You could try to verify your .NET installation, many KG depend on it.

For others: sometimes, just right click on the KG and choose "Run as Administrator" is enough.
