thEQblue — Paramount MP Mastering EQ
A dozen precision variations on “analog,” all in one equalizer.

Yes, Your Blueness
The equalizer is perhaps the oldest and the most popular of sound processing tools. From its earliest days, the main function was correction or enhancement by boosting or cutting certain frequencies.

For a century, engineers have developed countless equalizers. A few became legend, our thEQorange is one. The most popular version in recording and post is the parametric equalizer or PEQ, first perfected by Massenburg in 1972. It offers maximum flexibility with only three controls. Properly used, the PEQ is a powerful tool and the best friend of every audio engineer in the quest for perfect sound. As Spidey (and Voltaire) always reminds us though, “With great power comes great responsibility.” When designed by a clueless or cost–constrained software engineer, it can truly degrade your work.

Why develop yet one more parametric equalizer (PEQ) when there’s already hundreds on the market? The answer is simple…’Cuz there was room for improvement! It was customers of the original LinearPhase PEQ Red and Orange who asked Algorithmix to develop a classic EQ, for recording and mixing tasks, with unparalleled purity and transparency. Over several years, our Dr. Christoph closely analyzed many of the best out there, and compiled a vast knowledgebase of analog EQ best practices. Cherry picking from that, he implemented not just one or two, but an entire collection of trad minimal phase EQs. The result? A distillation of analog antecedents, while others are based on new ideas.

We know you’ll enjoy our dozen variations of blue, newly revised by MAAT, and will find your favorite sound. We’ve also added subtle but important touches, like the ability to freely assign Sections to either stereo [left/right] or sum/difference [L+R/L-R] at the same time, and to “group” all Sections and make a global gain change without disturbing the relationship of individual Sections.

And there were comments saying that the Witches were on vacation. 😆This eq is very good. Let's see how this update is going.

This is one of my fav EQ I'll never buy and I've been using it for almost everyday and I kinda know how it reacts but this version feels a bit laggy, performance wise, everything takes time to respond, I understand it's high latency plugin and it needs some times before the audio is affected but I'm talking about the plugin GUI itself, everything will only respond 1-2 seconds after it is clicked, the FIDEF needs 3 seconds for the first turn on. Never happens before for as long I've been using it. Maybe because they updated it to the V4 and havent done optimization but it just feel weird and annoying because of that 1-2 sec lag.

EDIT (Seems like an important one) :
Found at the License/Info page/tab in this plugin there a new line "Built for: INTEL". I checked with the previous v3.1.0 and there's no such thing on its License/Info page.

No other MAAT's plugin has that line on their License/Info page in the plugin. Only thEQBlue v4. Not sure it means anything to Windows user since AMD (my CPU) and INTEL are basically the same x64 architecture, if there's different architecture it should be the ARM CPU but yeah that could mean anything. Only thEQBlue has separate installers for INTEL and ARM for MAC, thEQRed and thEQOrange only has one each for MAC machine.

Just sharing things I found different with the v4 since I can't really find the release note.

Exactly the same experience with this and Red in FL21.2.3.4004

Update: Blue crashed my DAW twice so far. Red hasn't yet.

I havent even tried the Red earlier. I don't think I've ever used it in a project ever. Only the Blue and Orange, but just tested this version, and can confirm, same laggy behavior as mentioned above.

Going back to previous/older version for now. Maybe R2R will try to fix this or maybe it's the dev that should do that. The RSPhaseShifter also giving black GUI, so MAAT probably changed something and R2R missed it. It's okay and totally normal, a FIXED version soon perhaps.

Very useful info, thank you. Might be worth it to return to the previous version.

Did anyone find the update notes for these? I am unable to find it.

it crashes Sequoia and Samplitude for me, in Wavelab it doesn't open. Inly in Reaper I was able to open it but it feels weird. I'm 100% sure it has nothing to do with R2R, it's the plugin itself. This Maat Co is a weird one. they took over Algorithmix with high hopes riding the fact that these were THE plugins back in the day, costing a fortune when there was not much else around, but they did it way too late and I have a feeling they don't really know what they're doing. Like you said, eve when working they're laggy, takes forever to unload ...

Doesn't open in Studio One 6.5.1

Kinda buggy, seems to be stable in Reaper, in Reason vst2 version crashes and vst3 gui doesn't show up, both vst2 and vst3 crashes in Ableton Live.
