AUDIOWAREZ | DEC 2023 | 3.3 GB
Live is fast, fluid and flexible software for music creation and performance. It comes with effects, instruments, sounds and all kinds of creative features—everything you need to make any kind of music. Create in a traditional linear arrangement, or improvise without the constraints of a timeline in Live’s Session View. Move freely between musical elements and play with ideas, without stopping the music and without breaking your flow.

Thanks!! If anyone has better performances, can you list it in the comment section? This way we can all know your personal experiences between the beta updates

Well for me personally, I don't know why, but Live 12 Beta seems to be performing WAY, WAY better than Live 11.3.13 I had (it was patched with the patcher if that's relevant) which I find interesting, I wonder if that was an Ableton issue or patcher wasn't doing so well anymore. My hunch is Ableton issue because someone already mentioned better performance in the comments here compared to 11

Performance on the first Beta released here is smooth like butter. The UI is a lot more fluid and responsive. Moving clips and making edits is better., with regards to workflow. The plugins filtering is a massive upgrade. Indexing seem better in the beta. I work with an external HDD, I assume those with SSD are gonna have even better experience. I can't complain much in overall. This update is far from simple and mid, if you do lots of midi compositions. Ableton are polishing things up. You'll have to spend lots of time with it to learn the new features. No crashes yet. Plugins don't seem to crash the entire Software like it did on previous releases. The performance on the first beta here is definitely better than the entire 11 releases. I'll try this too and keep you posted. Thanks to AUDIOWAREZ... Preciate!

Has anyone noted an issue running it? Here, clean install, patch copied over, both the earlier beta and this one won't run the exe. Nothing shows in processes, and it never gets to showing anything at all. It's not AV. Does it need a specific instruction set call? It would suck if I've been grandfathered. :\ thx!

Start afresh with the new release. You will have to go into c/programdata/Ableton and run the beta from there. Use glasswire or any firewall to block the beta from updating itself. My experience was seamless. uninstall the betas and start afresh. you must have missed something.

Thanks, but as I said, clean install. exe was run from there and it doesn't. Network was disabled as well as a test. It's not attempting to update, it's not running anything at all. I've scoped it. The only thing I can attribute it to is the Xeon in this Lenovo tower is now too old. 11 worked fine, all betas worked fine. This has come up before with latest Maxon C4D 2024 in that they only support AVX2 now so wouldn't be at all surprised.

Oh ok. That explains it then. Sorry :(

I'd try this. Uninstall Ableton with Revo uninstaller, then scan for all the remaining files with it and select all and delete everything it finds (User Library won't get deleted but you could scroll through and check everything its deleting if you wanna be extra cautious). When I did that it missed a few folders, so delete those too. Those folders are:

"C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\AppData\Local\Ableton\Live Database"
"C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Ableton\Live 12.0b20"
"C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Ableton\Live 12.0b21"

After that just reinstall.

Also, Instead of deleting those last few folders you could make a copy somewhere, since I guess they're small. Just in case your preferences or added sample pack folders get reset or whatever.

Maybe your CPU isn't supported anymore? I just checked their requirements and it says this:

Live 12
Windows
Windows 10 (version 22H2) or Windows 11 (version 22H2 or higher)
5th generation Intel® Core™ i5 processor or AMD Ryzen processor
8 GB RAM
1366x768 display resolution
ASIO-compatible audio hardware for Link support (also recommended for optimal audio performance)
Approximately 3 GB disk space on the system drive for the basic installation (8 GB free disk space recommended)
Optionally up to 76 GB disk space for additionally available sound content

the "5th generation" part makes me think that, because it used to only say this for Live 11:

Live 11
Windows
Windows 10 (Build 1909 and later), Windows 11
Intel® Core™ i5 processor or an AMD multi-core processor

Happened to me too, when I tried using the official links given on the forum. It shows briefly in Task Manager under processes, but disappears quickly.

Would I be able to install this alongside A11 and run both, just to test this, but still use 11, or would this overwrite everything and screw up the R2R 11?

No. every Ableton versions so far install their own version if u install them in different folders at setup. That means u have to change the default install directory of what the setup suggests, or u will get an error that says that it can't install in this directory because another version is installed there.

This isnt correct. They create a separate folder. 11 installed in programdata/ableton/live 11 suite and 12 installed in .../live 12 beta by default. Were also true for previous versions. Ive had 10 and 11 alongside eachother for a long time wo problems.

What are the limitations of this, except for obviously potential bugs, not fully developed, and so on?

Does it recognise Push 2? Does it allow for loading in third party plugins? Any significant restrictions?
  Member 21.03.2021 96

I don't own push 2 but I can say that beta has no limitation, third party vst working , saves and reopen working
