Acustica Audio Ultramarine 4 2023-R2R screenshot
Team R2R | 2023.11.24 | 235.4 MB
Ultramarine includes 5 plugins that recreate the sound of truly legendary studio equipment from the 1950s and the 60s. These models are so rare and costly that even modern reissues fetch high prices. Our plugin suite includes everything you need to give your productions the immortal sound of the great classics, thanks to our careful sampling of the original hardware.

A70 Mid-Side/Stereo Compressor

This compressor is based on what is arguably the most iconic of all dynamics processors. Described as the β€œuniversally-accepted standard for level control' in the 1950s, it remains one of the most revered studio processors ever invented. Equally versatile in mastering studios as in radio broadcast facilities, the original machines go for $20,000 or more on the second-hand market.

The sound of this impressive device is defined by its short attack and long release times, which lets you keep transients under control while giving the body of the track a sonic β€œmassage.” But because only about 1000 units were ever built and sold, it’s becoming more and more difficult to find one in excellent operating condition.

Over the years, multiple clones and emulations β€” both hardware and software β€” have been created in an attempt to capture the unmistakable character of this behemoth compressor/limiter; however, no digital version has been able to match the elegance of this marvelous piece of engineering.

That is, until now. In order to create our plugin, we directly sampled the original hardware unit. We believe that the results speak for themselves.

A-27 - Variable Tube Equalizer

Originally built in the 1960s, this active EQ featured unique circuitry and a completely different electronic implementation compared to other classic EQs from the same era.

The search for an original hardware unit seemed like an impossible mission, but we didn't lose hope. In the end, we tracked down all the necessary components, one by one, and we assembled it ourselves!

In the end, this specialized equalizer surpassed even our highest expectations. Wonderfully smooth in sound, it’s a beast of a machine, and is truly unique. The Ultramarine 4 A-27 EQ is a world apart from any other EQ we’ve sampled, and we guarantee that you’ll fall in love with it the same way we did.

A-64 American Vintage 2-Band Passive Program EQ

Don't let its size fool you!

This passive EQ comes straight from a model made in the early 1960s, with only 2 correction bands, a low shelving filter, and a high peak-type filter.

While the low-frequency filter has a fixed cut-off 80Hz, the high-frequency filter offers 4 peak settings ranging from 4-15 kHz. The original model had an input signal attenuation of 17dB, which meant that the passive EQ unit was almost always coupled to a preamplifier or a compressor to help recover part of the lost level.

It’s still considered by many audio professionals to be one of the most musical equalizers ever created. We at Acustic Audio were lucky enough to find a unit in perfect condition, and we jumped at the opportunity to sample it.

Try it out for yourself β€” we’re sure you’ll agree that the results are simply stunning.

A-58 Reverb Unit

The A-58 reverb is the virtual counterpart of a high-quality, electro-mechanical reverberation device, and one of the best vintage reverbs ever created by a legendary American manufacturer. This gem is a real collector's item! It employs 6 electro-mechanical delay lines, each tuned differently to produce a natural reverb effect that is extremely smooth and warm (even on percussive sounds).

A witch says,

Library is completely decrypted, decompressed, DRM related bloat removed, and built to the clean one.

It should be very hard to maintain more than 100 software for small company. Even the big companies do not maintain such number of the software. Something is being sacrificed to realize that.

Can someone make a mini video explaining how to install the Acustica Audio Framework please!!!!!
  Member 12.11.2021 15

After a lot of struggle I finally made it!
Installing the Framework

1st Install "VC_redist.x64 / C++ 2015-2022"

2nd Copy and paste the folders within Framework-Official to "C:\Program Files"

3rd Install Make_APPDATA_Acustica_Dir (Creates a directory in the USER/AppData/Roaming folder)

4th Open the Framework-R2R folder and install the executable "w_dpcpp_cpp_runtime_p_2024.0.0.49848"

for the Plugins to work.
1st Extract the RAR files

2nd Copy and paste all the files into the VST3 and !COMMON folder in the directory:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3

There you go, have fun!

I want to know why not package it as an exe installation package. It's not possible to change the path now, which takes up a lot of space

Are you going to complain in every single post? Be grateful or go away
  Member 2.09.2022 14

Firstly, I didn't complain. Did I complain? I'm just asking, because I saw them packaging R2R files on other websites and packaging them into exe installation packages! Once again: Just ask, please put away your righteous face!

If you're going to other non R2R warez sites it's likely repacked with malware. There are no exe files in these official R2R releases because it's a straight copy paste job !

R2R calling out thier new more is more attitude instead of focusing on making the software they have behave properly. Pretty sad but true from Acustica Audio. I've been using thier products since thier first Nebula release. Long time. Last few years has been mass production over quality. Thanks to R2R for exposure of thier greed

Yet again 44 and 96 only. R2R should really stop making those releases from trial libraries cause they aren't the same as a full ones. Honestly they raised up so much noise, but their current releases a total fail.

New to trying Acustica and normally work in 48. So plug will not react properly in 48? Trying to understand the details? TY
  Member 29.02.2016 44

Most AA trial libraries have only 44 and 96 vectors. Those vectors aren't updated with bug fixes.

In case of using in 48 session it can let to down/up sampling causing performance spikes and moreover shifts original characteristic of captured hardware leading to various artifacts.

Hi, been using AA's Nebula for years now. Let me let you in on a secret. You can use the 96 vector in 44.1 no problem so don't worry. 48khz is not really good for AA plugins nobody really uses it in that sample rate it's super buggy.

Speak for yourself.
I find the EQ in Gold 5 absolutely addictive.

What? I find Gold EQ addictive too, that's why I bought it in 2019 and use it till today.

because Gold 5 is new product that support all sample rate. Not the one that only does the 44/96 like this one. zzz.

oversample if possible. these sound best at 96k regardless
  Member 29.02.2016 44

They sound amazing in 48 also if done properly. External oversampling of performance heavy AA plugins isn't a remedy.

Are you going to supply them the full release, or do you expect them to buy them all for you?
  Member 29.02.2016 44

They aren't ask me to provide them any yet. I expect if you make loud statements you must fulfill them fully. Otherwise those release should be marked as library of cracked trials.

I just answered to question above.

Ok guys. I think it is enough for me. I've tried my best to point on technical issues with current releases. According to replies it seems that I somehow look like I'm saying something against r2r or AA which confuses me.

Are you referring to the N2V files and in which plugins are 48 and 88 missing ?
I just checked my folders and all the older ( not hyper) releases with N2V sample rates are all there from 44-96hz so how can it be a trial ?

Update (25/11/2023)

1) R2R AA plugins that can work with any sample rate :
- Fire The Pump
- Black
- Salt
- Magic Flow
- Space Control
- Gold 5
- Ash
- Ash Ultra
- Pumpkin Pro
- Sienna
- Jet
- Sounda

2) R2R AA Plugins that do not support 48kHz. Need Oversampling when project sample rate is 48kHz (but run fine at 44.1kHz & 96kHz) :
- Amber
- Howie Weinberg Mastering Console
- Gainstation 1 & 2
- Pink 4
- Sand 3
- Ultramarine 4
- Taupe
- Honey 3

Here is an example of Amber preamp running at 48kHz without OS, and with 2X OS (96kHz) :
Screenshot

This one is Amber EQ :
Screenshot

Settings : Preamp ON +2db @ 50Hz, +1db @ 1.3kHz, +4db @ 10kHz
- the top image showing the right curve for the settings, when the plugin run at 2X OS (96kHz)
- the bottom image is when using it without OS at 48kHz, wtf with the weird looking bump there
- notice that it's 18db scale, the bump is +/- 4-5db overshoot

Acustica knows this :
When you are trying to run a session, and the sample rate is missing, for example, Green version 4 without the frequency pack, your audio host (DAW or NLE) will ask the plug-in to convert the vectors files to match the session sample rate, which could lead to slower load time and less accurate sound quality.

https://acusticaudio.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/35000170890-what-is-a-frequency-pack

sadly the "less accurate" means weird EQ bumps, weird filtering and totally different preamp sound because the impulse are stretched. Anyone like that broken plugin sound ? by all means please use it but dont spread misinformation saying nothing is wrong. That's just selfish.
