Ultramarine includes 5 plugins that recreate the sound of truly legendary studio equipment from the 1950s and the 60s. These models are so rare and costly that even modern reissues fetch high prices. Our plugin suite includes everything you need to give your productions the immortal sound of the great classics, thanks to our careful sampling of the original hardware.

A70 Mid-Side/Stereo Compressor

This compressor is based on what is arguably the most iconic of all dynamics processors. Described as the “universally-accepted standard for level control' in the 1950s, it remains one of the most revered studio processors ever invented. Equally versatile in mastering studios as in radio broadcast facilities, the original machines go for $20,000 or more on the second-hand market.

The sound of this impressive device is defined by its short attack and long release times, which lets you keep transients under control while giving the body of the track a sonic “massage.” But because only about 1000 units were ever built and sold, it’s becoming more and more difficult to find one in excellent operating condition.

Over the years, multiple clones and emulations — both hardware and software — have been created in an attempt to capture the unmistakable character of this behemoth compressor/limiter; however, no digital version has been able to match the elegance of this marvelous piece of engineering.

That is, until now. In order to create our plugin, we directly sampled the original hardware unit. We believe that the results speak for themselves.

A-27 - Variable Tube Equalizer

Originally built in the 1960s, this active EQ featured unique circuitry and a completely different electronic implementation compared to other classic EQs from the same era.

The search for an original hardware unit seemed like an impossible mission, but we didn't lose hope. In the end, we tracked down all the necessary components, one by one, and we assembled it ourselves!

In the end, this specialized equalizer surpassed even our highest expectations. Wonderfully smooth in sound, it’s a beast of a machine, and is truly unique. The Ultramarine 4 A-27 EQ is a world apart from any other EQ we’ve sampled, and we guarantee that you’ll fall in love with it the same way we did.

A-64 American Vintage 2-Band Passive Program EQ

Don't let its size fool you!

This passive EQ comes straight from a model made in the early 1960s, with only 2 correction bands, a low shelving filter, and a high peak-type filter.

While the low-frequency filter has a fixed cut-off 80Hz, the high-frequency filter offers 4 peak settings ranging from 4-15 kHz. The original model had an input signal attenuation of 17dB, which meant that the passive EQ unit was almost always coupled to a preamplifier or a compressor to help recover part of the lost level.

It’s still considered by many audio professionals to be one of the most musical equalizers ever created. We at Acustic Audio were lucky enough to find a unit in perfect condition, and we jumped at the opportunity to sample it.

Try it out for yourself — we’re sure you’ll agree that the results are simply stunning.

A-58 Reverb Unit

The A-58 reverb is the virtual counterpart of a high-quality, electro-mechanical reverberation device, and one of the best vintage reverbs ever created by a legendary American manufacturer. This gem is a real collector's item! It employs 6 electro-mechanical delay lines, each tuned differently to produce a natural reverb effect that is extremely smooth and warm (even on percussive sounds).

A witch says,

Library is completely decrypted, decompressed, DRM related bloat removed, and built to the clean one.

It should be very hard to maintain more than 100 software for small company. Even the big companies do not maintain such number of the software. Something is being sacrificed to realize that.

Thanks for the detailed technical info and I see what your'e saying , those bumps look whack.

Is this an artifact from the legit plugins or R2R only ? In my defense I have not installed any of the unsupported plugins in your list so thats why I was befuddled.

by all means please use it but dont spread misinformation saying nothing is wrong. That's just selfish.

Color me curious, but I'm not sure what in my comment suggests I'm selfishly spreading false information because as an acustica vector inexperienced person I was asking a question ( not making a statement ) to someone who knows to elaborate on the latest allegations going around that these releases by R2R are a fail because they crackd trial versions and not the full versions.

that's not pointed at you at all, just saying in general. apologies for not being more clear about it. It's just I read too many of that recently and people thought me and some of the other are attacking R2R, why would we do that at all ? haha

recent discoveries : info

No worries, I've just dug deeper and can see your posts on other threads about this which I didn't have prior knowledge about.

it's so weird that AA would sacrifice 48kz sample rates in the trial plugins being one of the most popular sr's besides 96hz. I mean who can demo these vector plugins at 44kz and come away feeling inspired to buy them. Mustv'e be strategic move to deter piracy but we know how that worked out...

could be R2R are not fully aware of it at the time. they should by now. Totally understandable when they are dealing with thousands of plugin.

There's a member in AS forum that want to supply all those missing 48/88 files and have a collection of AA plugins he bought. That could actually be the solution for all this. Hopefully the mods will help him sort it out quickly. I think one can just upload to the archive section here if they want as people had before with labeling them UNCRACKED on the post. If R2R needed it, they should've just mention it in the next NFO. Im sure, everyone will do their part as they did with Falcon libraries last 2 years. The entire UVI catalog was released.

This bundle is the perfect example, it has a reverb plugin.

Run the Reverb at 48kHz and then listen to the difference when it oversampled.

So what's happening =>
- at 48kHz no oversampling, it loads the 44.1kHz IR and stretched it.
- at 48kHz with oversampling 2X, it loads the 96kHz IR untouched which is the real reverb sound
- listen to the difference, it's huge. the stretched version sound funny without any real reverb dimension and the high end is super ugly but the oversampled version sounds like a super cool 3D reverb.
- If one understand convolution reverb, it's basically that, how it's never advisable to stretch the IR or all its original character will be gone.

That is basically what's happening to every single EQ move, preamp and everything you use on the plugin running at 48kHz without oversampling, you get a stretched version of a 44.1kHz impulse for everything. It's not the real sampled hardware sound.

Why are you here complaining? If you aren't happy then either buy the plugins yourself, or go away.

what is wrong with you, the man clearly not preferring the company and asking R2R to (if possible) to not release a crack based on the trial, preferably the full retail commercial release so he can ditch all the legit and jump to R2R release.

he has a point where switching to a cracked trial version would cause even more problem with compatibility, recall and whatnot if the sample rate of the vector not matching. He's doing a favor for all the AA customer that wanted to jump to R2R release and ditch the legit but cant do that just yet.

It's not piracy, it's an alternative solution

It's why R2R is doing this at the first place, and he is suggesting to R2R to do it right, to provide a better alternative solution because right now it isn't that just yet, maybe halfway there, where the bloatware issue and CPU consumption issue is taken care of. There's a possibility of the team aren't aware of this sampling rate issue as none of this is spoken through the NFO until now. There's also possibility of getting lifetime ban for jumping to R2R version, everyone here is just trying to minimizing the risk. People get their plugins, ditch a stupid company that never care about their user and R2R agenda can be fulfilled. Fighting DRM, bloatware, excessive protection that impact the whole audio production community.

It's what's the community are for, giving feedbacks. Seems like you are missing the point here.

quote by john-whipperYet again 44 and 96 only. R2R should really stop making those releases from trial libraries cause they aren't the same as a full ones. Honestly they raised up so much noise, but their current releases a total fail.

You should provide them or stop blubbering.
What are you saying? That R2R should buy the plugins for you?
Or that they should simply not release them, because of this limitation?
We definitely need the slap in face emoji here...

I think he is not going to complain, he is gathering and gives usable information.
I think it’s good to know for which plugins we must use 44100 khz for example.
I didn’t test them myself but if his informations be true, it’s preferable to use 44 instead of 48 in projects we going to use acustica plugins.
New science says new interfaces and amps roll of above nyquist frequency and dosent differ so much between 44 and 48 , although 48 is slightly better for recording

R2R should really stop making those releases

This is not a "useful information" this is telling R2R what they should do...

Nope.

It said in sense guys at R2R don't have to do double work for nothing. I’m sorry just a few realizes why it is so. I don’t know how else to point on a problem. They will rework all they already did with those thousand files when everyone finally realises.

Man it’s hard to give help here, everyone just pounces with whatever their mind is obsessed at the moment with. I’m not against R2R I love them, as I do with AA plugins I’ve bought on around 1,5k€.

Anyway I wrote to someone Olymoon says, hope to gave what I have for everyone’s good.

this one absolutely crushes UAD's silly compressor. Makes theirs sound like a freebie plugin that came when you signed up for a Splice trial.

To be honest, I never liked UAD compressors in general. In my experience the best compressors are in TrackComp and Slate pucks(which is funny considering the cringe his marketing produces). Basically TrackComp has almost perfect response, while Slate has a little bit of dirt that people like. I was using this combo for some popular compressors - Slate for crush-like sends, and TrackComp for everything else. Gonna try AA against the combination...

Just 1 instance of Reverb??? In what DAW did you test it ?
  Member 3.11.2022 42 198

The rev eats 9% only activated, when audio pass rise up at 11%
The comp eats 20%, one instance. (It's magical)
The strip eats 8% weired, one instance.

When i put 35% i was talking for the comp, (was duplicated, My mistake)
Those number are from live 11, c12 pro, fl 21.
My system is like a neardenthal, (i live in argentina) just and i3 9th gen, 8gb ram and rx 570 4gb, SSD uv400 240gb.

The project it's in 44 / 48.
No DSP, just a behringer UM 2. 😆

to get the benefit you need 2x oversampling = 96k
think of it like hardware, do your thing then print
and you dont always need everything.
Like for Amber, just use/boost the high Frequency
That is what the Avalon was known for

why most plugins don't contain 48 .N2V ? it doesn't function correct if u are using 48k sampling rate ? i apologize for my ignorance but its just weird curves when measuring compared to 96 matching 96 (massive cpu load on 96k)
