The Usual Suspects, the developers of the DSP56300 emulator, have dropped Vavra, a new Synthesizer plugin recreating Waldorf microQ.

Many well-known 90s virtual analog synthesizers are based on the Motorola DSP5630 DSP. For example, the Access Virus series A, B, C, TI, the Clavia Nord Lead 3, Waldorf Q, or the Novation Nova synthesizers.

Vavra is an emulation of the Waldorf microQ from 2000—one of the first virtual analog synthesizers. It featured 25 voices (expandable up to 75) with 5 oscillators per voice, two multitype filters with FM and distortion, four envelopes, three audio rate LFOs, effects, and more.

The project’s core is, once again, the DSP56300 emulation plugin. It’s available as a free download.

Vavra is currently in the beta version, a very young emulation with many teething problems.

I'd just like to point out this and Osirus are not your typical "emulation" like say Arturia MiniMoog V or similar tons of "emulations", but this is a true emulation of the Motorola CPU, flash ROMs and original DSP so asking "does it sound like the real thing?" is quite stupid because it does. The only difference is the AD/DA converter on your audio card. Cheers and enjoy this incredible and free gem! Try Osirus, too. They are two different and excellent sounding DSP beasts.

i guess that even with SineWave explanation you dont get it. the waldorf does not have an analog filter. so why would you need an analog filter to get a full blown waldorf ?

Common misconseption i think
So many people assume that the filters are analogue which they arert, and are of course digital , as they are in nearly every hardware synth that isnt full blown analogue, even then theres many an exeption to that particular rule.
Would one think a jd 800 or jp8000 has full blown analogue filters? or even a virus/A/B/C if you said yes youd be wrong

as mentioned down here - there is a Q+ version with analog filters but very rare and expensive - same goes for Microwave I vs II which

Though I've been fooled thinking just because a synth is computer controlled, that it isn't analog. If the signal path is all analog, it is considered an analog synth. Obviously not the case here. The thing I really laugh at is when people think modular hardware means analog.

for windows put mainfolder in vst3 folder & then put the presets, rom file that is in systems & the file in win folder into the same folder as the vst.dll.

there is a text file with instructions.

There is but not for the NKS :) The other steps are well explained but the NKS there is not any! And nks has to be in a special place on Mac and I am pretty sure too on windows..

I read the instructions but they weren't very clear to me, so I did it my way :)

I put all the files in one folder, in the link there is a picture of how it looks for me, and it works normally.

The piano is so deep, don't hear such deep piano in a plugin. Sounds like a , deep, rich, cream piano, its in the singles called 'E.Piano Tines AG'.
